Is there any evidence?  It seems to me that the OP is just trolling.  I don't see any real evidence of the claims.  Although I must admit that the distribution of wealth chart is interesting.  Is that chart accurate?  If so then a few people holing the majority of btc could be a factor in driving up the value assuming they are just sitting on the coins.

its just commentary as usual.

I mean its understandable at some levels, but it shouldnt be taken seriously I mean technically we are all die hard fans of bitcoin cause we still stick around on this forum.

And that is exactly the reason why it will never happen. If bitcoin was to fail, it would be needed for a ton of people and infrastructure, and ideas to disappear.
I'm sure there were threads like this, but with people wanting the price to go to 0.60$, and im sure there will be threads in the future wanting the price to be 300 $ again.
Why resist the movement when you can join the club ?

It's not a problem if sha256 is broken, and this was already said by Satoshi, so it's just a matter of changing algo.

I've never been remotely interested in buying altcoins, I just don't trust them or believe they have any real future.
As far as the success of cryptocurrency is involved it's Bitcoin or nothing imo.
I just don't think any altcoin offers anything to me/us that bitcoin doesn't.
As far as the OP title goes - Bitcoin is going nowhere.
2016 will be a big year for bitcoin & I believe is the time we really start to see results.

The other altcoin offer nothing new except promises and attract people portraying they will make more money through it, but nothing about building a community and watching its future as a currency. Its all the same, 2016 will shut all of em because it will be the year of bitcoin.

not an easy task as you think, because what miners can do then? get rid of their whole 300 peta hash and start all over again...no way it would be one of the biggest waste of money...

it would mean the death of bitcoin as we know it now

Thankfully, everybody doesn't think that way. Look at the number of bitcoin start ups which are out there.

The OP is finding out that it's easy to laugh at Bitcoin holders in a bear market, but that it's impossible to laugh at them in a bull market. Now the tables are turned and we can laugh at him for not buying in when he had the perfect opportunity.

What else could you possibly do..... If sha256 was broken the miners would be worthless instantly bitcoin would HAVE to change the algo.  Once one can solve private keys from public it's gg for SHA256.

GPU's would rise again from the ashes.

it should be a gradually change if they really need to change because of quantum computer(are you ttalking about this right?), so it must be done many years before it happen

the problem is that it can be build secretly by some huge company, then bitcoin will be indeed screwed
