Will Streamium be the killer Bitcoin App?

For me, the though of empowering anyone to set-up a live stream and be able to get paid without someone taking a cut is pretty big. So you could do guitar lessons , math lessons , or you could be a live sporting event and someone might want to have sneak peak in . The application of this is pretty mine bongling.

I am afraid that you are right. If you are creator of decent video content then you will probably use Youtube or stream on Twitch. These services have bigger user base and audience. For now Streamium can be only really only used for sex webcam niche and be successful with it. There is already some advertisement of girls in the services section on our forum. Apparently it costs $15 to be able to watch hour of girl xxx stream...

I've tried that stream mentioned and it easily could be a video loop of the girl ( in fact I'm working out a way to verify with her now!) and I have feeling will be abused by fake girls to start.  But, you are right there are bigger fish to fry with all this. My view is that Stremium will mainly be used for porn, this will definitely get the word out but in the end i dont see how it will be beneficial to bitcoin as a currency

You totally missing the point... people want instant payments for their Live content. Streamium gives instant access to the content, whilst it's happening in real time... The viewers can watch it LIVE and the content provider can receive instant micro payments.

Let's take an example : Your kids school is hosting a "show" but you are sick and cannot attend it. The school stream this "show" LIVE online for these people and charge them the same entrance fee, as they charge the people, who attended in person, via Streamium. {Or the "show" is sold out, and they just host a stream online for those who did not get tickets}

For the mothers and fathers who has sat through a 3 to 4 our show like this, it would be a great benefit.. {Let's say the wife goes, and phones the husband at work, when their child is going on, and he quickly access the stream and only pay for watching that part of the show}

There are loads of other {non-porn} related uses for this APP.

My friend paid $100 per hour for a LIVE streamed video of his kids dance competition in another country. {He could only afford to send his child and his wife} He sat at home with his family and they watched the whole performance. {It would be a lot cheaper to use Streamium}

People will find a use for it, and it will grow as soon as most of the bugs are sorted out.

The $15 per hour for the xxx rated content was a test run... people will pay much less, once there are more people using it. {Competition will push the rates down}

For me, it will be a killer app because being decentralized, there won't be any issue on what "can" appear and "cannot" appear, it's like no central authority to control and dictate the terms. On another note, I just hope it won't be manipulated or in a way, misused, to an extent that it will make bitcoin look bad.

I guess the idea is to monetise unique happenings. Anyone trying to charge for watching kitten videos or movies isn't going to get too far.

I think it's more niche than it first appears but it might also open up new possibilities.

My spouse agreed to stream a LIVE feed of <spring cleaning in the buff> I made the mistake of saying, Who the hell is going to pay to watch that? I am now officially in the Dog Box for a month.
Next time, I will have to count my words or swallow it, if it pay off and pay the bills. ^Hmmmm^

I don't see the problem with charging for media. How do you think twitch is a massive success? There are millions being moved by the most famous twitchers with their subscriptions.

I think that the points you listed are exactly why it will be not killer ap. It will be labeled by majority of people as 'that hipster porn stream' or place where 'lunatic basement dwellers speak their opinions".
With porn I see that some people would use it but there is no way that anyone would pay to see anything politics or society related via Streamium. For now I doubt that Streamium will be huge, but I wish I am wrong.

This. Bringing in money on a streaming basis will be pretty much ONLY for porn. There would barely be any watchers on places like Twitch and YouTube if people had to pay. That's where advertisers come in. They are the ones paying for the content viewers consume. I don't see this cycle being broken by any of the non-porn industries.
