A local jail offers free room and board plus free electricity.  Would you go to jail (voluntarily) with your s5 so you can mine for free?

I heard people would go to jail for stealing electricity to mine.  I think it is better to go to jail so you can mine, instead of going to jail because you are stealing electricity.

No because you don't get to bring things in with you.  So unless you hide an S2 in your ass you aint getting it in.

If you hide an s2 in your ass, then it is not an s2 anymore... it is an ass2.

Trolling or not?

What kind of question is that?

I think it was partial trolling.  It should have been speculating what some are doing to get free electricity.  Or amount of free electricity we think there could be out there that miners are using.

Instead it was a question that has a obvious anwser.   No one should pick jail.

I speculate that  the homeless people should voluntarily pick jail over being homeless.

I think this confirms the trolling.   This is not speculation but trying to shock others into replying, IE trolling..

Why not make every inmate a miner to mine?  Would that change society? Yes!

Why are people so excited when they heard of a mineable toaster or microwave (21 Inc), but not a mineable prisoner?

I beg to differ.  Here are the economics of going to jail voluntarily vs. staying homeless:

1.  Jail = free food and drinks.    Homeless you have to beg for every meals.
2.  Jail = free shelter with air condition.                Homeless  you have to sleep under the bridge.
3.  Jail = free education.  You can study to become a lawyer or doctor.     Homeless - no library to study.
4.  Jail = free mining (not with s5 but with a usb miner)    .    Homeless- you are being mined by jerks

There are so many advantages for being in jail vs. being homeless.

Lol... The best advantages as listed and also the best advice I have seen so far...

Yes, I do believe that being in jail would get you those things for free, but do you think that you will be left with any career for your life ahead after coming out from Jail???

I don't think that you like to roam at different places, don't you like the freedom of meeting new people everyday instead of just sitting under some shelter that too air-conditioned??? Tongue

Well, when you are homeless and seeing and hearing gods talking to you then jail or not ... it is the same.... career or not, it is the same.... sane or not, it is the same.

Free electricy, but your lifetime wasted. Also your name would appeared on the crime record, for bitcoin.
Also the police shouldn't let you bring the miner.

And there's a lot of better way to generate bitcoin other than going to jail

Why don't you try it? I just find this question is stupid, no offense.

Then stop being homeless and get back to work, you lazy bum.
You got free meal, shelter, education, electricy, but you sacrifice your freedom. It's like bird dying in a cage.

Hell, I won't sacrifice my freedom to mine bitcoin. There's another better way than this

You can't eat money.  Why even bother going to jail by trying to mine to make money - you might as well just try to get whatever you want for free and go to jail for shoplifting

This...

There's no way you could get mining equipment into a prison. They won't even let you bring in a paperback book.

Drugs though, you can get plenty of drugs in jail. Just not hashrate.

Not that I have any direct experience with this or anything Smiley

I don't know what prison would ever let someone bring in bitcoin miners.  This is a pretty silly question.  There's other ways to get free electricity than going to jail.

besides this you need a vast area to set a big farm, you can't certainly do it in a prison where the biggest area is a small arena for breakfast and other random activities for prisoners

problem with mining right now, isn't only about electricity anymore, is also about space, and temperature

Yes, if you go to jail then who know if you will allowed to take miners or other required stuff with you.and if you take them then will they allow you ti mine in jail, i don't think they will allow this

Heck no I wouldn't.  My freedom and years of my lifespan are not worth any amount of "free" anything!  I would rather work for what I would like to have.   Smiley  You also get some sense of accomplish with it that is a quite nice feeling at times.

This is a strange question that's wrong on so many levels.

No, I never want to go to jail for anything and hopefully never will, for something as stupid as for free electricity to mine bitcoin with an S5 is crazy! That'll produce 0.01btc a day ( $2.45 at todays rate ).

I know people that have been to jail and have visited some of them and I can wait to get out at the end of the visit, actually being in there would be my worst nightmare.

Careful, not everybody lives in US and there are countries where jail offers .. very bad conditions. Most of the points of your "nice" list may not be available.
Also, I am not convinced that you'd be allowed to carry such personal items in a jail, like a miner, even USB miner. Where would you connect it anyway, you'll get your laptop too? LOL! Is that jail connected to the internet?!

So yeah, I'd say that your question was not well enough thought on. And no, I am not stupid enough to waste my life for a few coins.
I know that the daily job is the modern slavery, I know that some think of it as prison, but I have some free time with my family and the job can pay for more coins than I'd get by mining, really...
