Well, I guess he is out.
Vertoe put a lot of effort into Darkcoin. A lot of people benefited financially, including him to some degree, from his teamwork input into the development of Darkcoin / Dash.
The decisions that led to his exit from Darkcoin were unfortunate. A few people that were regular contributors to Darkcoin and had spent a lot of their own free time making it successful also stopped contributing, but quite a few, while unhappy, kept their coins.
I never wanted to touch Cachecoin because of Jasin Lee's involvement. He has manipulated hundreds if not thousands of people who ended up losing $millions to his LTC / Scrypt ASIC scam and other altcoin scams or more accurately alleged scams as I believe he is being pursued for some sort of legal action. I was one of the few that avoided Jasinlee from the start and as far as I know I never got taken in by him.
https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=2702.0I did ask Vertoe if he wanted to join the development team in Spreadcoin which we took over a few months ago when the founding dev left. He had been a contributor in the past and he seemed to considered it, but he eventually decided to work on Cache. I don't understand, mine and have never had any interest in Cache. I did want to support Vertoe, who seemed to be keen on pursuing his own project - something I couldn't fathom at the time because he is capable of starting his own project from scratch.
It would be disingenuous for me to say I didn't think I could make a return on my support for Vertoe and we did briefly discuss some joint collaboration with Spreadcoin's planned p2p exchange - but it was support for Vertoe that I somewhat reluctantly invested 18 BTC (of my own free will and decision) into something which I guessed would also potentially benefit Jasin Lee, someone I had done pretty much everything I could to steer clear of and warned others against.
Personally, I was hoping to get back my investment and would have sold up at around 1.5 or 2x my initial stake in order to get back what I put in and have some coins to be part of the new community. Jasin Lee's indirect involvement was my early exit driver. At every point, I knew I could lose the lot. I am not looking for and don't want any sympathy. I know what caveat emptor means, many do not.
I put a lot of trust into Vertoe based on having known him via this forum and the LTC forum for around 18 months. I wish him the best of luck in whatever he does next because it seems that he has decided to exit crypto. The handling on both sides of the Darkcoin fallout wasn't great, to say the least, and I guess it has also now impacted many other people outside of Darkcoin / Dash.
This seems to have been a well coordinated exit from the start. As an intelligent German university educated man, I hope he goes back to being a trusted individual in his next professional life. I do business in Hamburg and frequently fly over, so If I come across him, I'd still buy him a beer.
If I or others make a proposal for Cache, I could only contemplate something that had some sort of relative exit out of Cache. If the original devs or others want to pursue something, please PM or email me bitcointalkcoins101 at gmail.com
