Over the years there has been a lot of speculation regarding the identity of Satoshi. (The most recent being that Satoshi is Tupac Shakur ) So, does it really matter to you who Satoshi is? And why?

Yes it does. The reason is that not knowing gives the community something mysterious to ponder. Bitcoins are so technical and mathematical that it is nice to have a good conspiracy theory around here once in a while.

It does matter. History should record his real name on the book. This technology and invention has changed alot of things in life, I dont see why not about this. I think that everyone needs to know who he is and he should get all the fame and respect for creating bitcoin

Yeah, those (conspiracy theories) we have a lot in the forums . So you are saying it matters to know who Satoshi is or it is better to leave it as a mystery?

However, I am sure that there is a reason he/she/they did not step up to claim their fame for their work.

Maybe not. for his safety better like this. i mean if goverment suppose him like a criminial because bad people use his technology for bad thing. we all know that bitcoin is decentralication and anonymous, so it was very difficult for goverment to track bad people who using bitcoin but for history of bitcoin and the knowledge in bitcoin i have to say that we need satoshi to reveal his real identity

Fortunately now, most goverment is ignoring bitcoin because they think that it is harmless for them but once they know about the real threat than Im sure they will be looking for satoshi. This could be why he is hiding his identity

True, one cannot argue with that, however, we are not talking about everyday ordinary things here. We are talking about something that can change the whole financial system.

I do however have doubts if their true identity will be revealed, unless they are in a very VERY powerful position. Don't forget that they are sitting on a big pile of Bitcoins and there will be many that will attempt to snatch them.

I don't think it matters. For historical reasons Satoshi is good enough, and this way a myth will be created which will in turn give additional publicity to BTC. One day I think it will be known who he/she was but even if it doesn't happen it's not important.

Yes, because if it was created by the government, then I am sure many people would wonder why. There are so many stupid theories to satoshi.
Here is one:
SATOSHI 5470541
5 - Five words in this sentence
4 - 4 x 4 = 16, 6 - 1 = 5, the previous number. Coincidence? I think not.
7 - SEVEN has 5 letters in it. Letters are enclosed in envelopes. Envelopes have addresses written on them. Bitcoin has addresses.
0 = Nothing. The government thinks nothing of bitcoin
5 - Five is the fifth number, numbers is a crappy Apple Inc. ripoff of Microsoft Excel. Bitcoin was created to excel. Oh come on, these can't just be coincidences, can they?
4 - Four, for There are two different fours. Two, to, too There are 3 different twos. 4x3x2=24 | 2x4 = 8 | 8^four = 4096 | 4096 is made of four numbers.
I - 1 is a prime number and it also isn't a prime number. Therefore it is in a superposition. Atoms are in superpositions in Quantum computers. Quantum computers are thought to break bitcoin.
Come on guys the answers are staring at us in the face!! These cannot be coincidences, can they?

I've voted for maybe, because it's depend on you. If you want to know who is the creator of Bitcoin, then you need to know who is Satoshi. But if you don't need to know it or that's not your business, then you don't need to know who is he That's my opinion

No, it doesn't.
What matter is whether the Bitcoin could be the future payment system. And if Bitcoin fails, nobody will even care what Bitcoin is.

I remember reading an article that pointed out Satoshi owns a lot of BTC. If these BTC are dumped, the market may not be able to stand up again, both from the dump and from the theory that the 'creator' has lost his faith. Who will hold his Bitcoin when the creator dumps ?? The article concluded that knowing this creator's intentions is very important for investors pouring money into BTC.

no it doesn't matter who is Satoshi because i don't think Satoshi was a person it was a code name or group of scientist, who worked in a group to create that amazing crypto currency so it doesn't matter who is behind this innovation.
