Copper is in all these different electronics, et cetera. Which altcoin gets to claim to be copper? That's my question.

Who hows what is the copper in this list. Maybe NXT or DASH or PAYCOIN or any other altcoin or something. Considering that most of new coin are pre mined look in 2 year back and find something that is for third place. If we take this list for example then is something completely different in coin list for third place.

You cant describe  Dogecoin as a based on a joke. is a coin as all other. Yes there is a myth that only gives him good that is a joke coin.

i agree, although it is a correct fact about Dogecoin, it is not the first thing you say about it.
it is another altcoin like others with a huge and cool community of people using it.
and specially with the recent price jump, it made a lot of people happy.

Consider that every alt coin relies on bitcoins value.

Just like waterpile said there are some alt that can be invested in right time and make profit from it. Also there so many scams it easy to view them. Most of the new coin that are said that they are not primined or just 5% are scams, it more reliable coin that said its 50% premined.

all altcoin are doomed, seeing how sidechain is a reality now and not a speculative vaporware, they will be total useless it's better to focus your attention on bitcoin only especially now with all the drama that thickens

Agree, most of the altcoins are falling down, except darkcoin and litecoin
somehow they managed to had a good price, but we'll see how these altcoins turns out

Agree, most of the altcoins are falling down, except darkcoin and litecoin
somehow they managed to had a good price, but we'll see how these altcoins turns out

Having a good price doesn't mean that there are a lot of users behind the coins. Unless Dash changes something it could just slowly die. LTC should have died long ago.

As for the difference it is pretty much SHA256 vs Scrypt; POW vs POS (only PPC) and every other fundamental rule such as coin supply, block generation time, block adjustment. I would advise you not to waste time on Dogecoin, Litecoin or Peercoin.

Peercoin= first hybrid POW/POS coin

all 3 are innovation expect dogecoin, that was created just for fun.

Dogecoin wasn't a technical innovation but it was an innovation in terms of marketing.

I would have thought Dogecoin would be the coin that is most analogous to copper. For example, CLAM used the blockchains of BTC, LTC, and DOGE to distribute their coins. Dogecoin is also the coin that has seen the most mainstream exposure after Bitcoin and Litecoin. After the initial success of BitcoinDark, it was quickly followed by LitecoinDark and DogecoinDark.

Many exchanges also have DOGE markets in addition to BTC and LTC markets for trading sub-satoshi/sub-liteoshi amounts.

And before Dogecoin, PPC would probably have been the coin that was closest to having the status of copper based on its market cap and similarity to LTC/BTC.

From what I understand they are all forms of cryptocurrency, so they can all be used as money, however there is not as much use for DOGE and all of the rest, for I think BTC runs the market.  I have also found that there are not to many places that accept these other cryptocurrencies.  So I stay with BTC.  I have play miners with the rest of them, but I transfer them to BTC as soon as I can.

If I may add my opinion on this, I'd say litecoin exists only because of the difficulty of accessibility of bitcoin. It costs much less but doesn't add anything.

Peercoin is very different as any peercoin transaction has a fee. It makes it better for mining and its hybrid technic is more environmental friendrly. It also has no limit, their can be as much peercoin as you want (the total amount grows of 1% a year or something like that if I remember correctly). So it's more logical to use Peercoin in my opinion ^^

litecoin clone of bitcoin with limited supply like bitcoin, doge is a clone of bitcoin with unlimited supply, they don't offer nothing over bitcoin, practically useless just for fun and feed your bitcoin wallet

peercoin was good back then  with its energy efficient stuff now seems stagnant
