well i think that all those news about btc are always good for us, so from my point of view this is a good news.

because things like that maybe others will consider to do the same, who know?

now while flying ppl will ask to himself what's btc? Tongue

Yes indeed. This a great news to us, with airlines accepting bitcoin that will make people start to wondering what is bitcoin. This will help more people eager to know a lot of bitcoin and this is what we are gonna need to make the coin price is going higher. The more people curious the more higher will the price be Grin

So anybody here that have used the bitcoin as payment for your airlines ticket? If so, you can share it. But IMO it is still new thing for people. For bitcoin development, you must introduce what bitcoin is to people, and after that you can make any transaction market with it

This is a small step in the right direction.  What if big airlines started doing this?  Guys like American Airlines or Lufthansa?  It is great to see this at airports because of international traffic.  That means that not only will local people be exposed to the possibility of using bitcoins, but also people from around the globe who are flying through that airport.

Yes that would be great if all international airlines starts accepting bitcoin as a mode of payment. Just imagine you don't have to carry cash or credit card and you can travel cashless which would also save your money to convert your currency into the local currency of the country where you are travelling..it would be simply the best.

That's great. It's a big step of making BTC more popular to people especially in our country. If big airlines do that like my above poster said , some of airlines from other country will definitely consider to use BTC as a payment. And if that happens , all flight here in our country including "DOMESTIC" flight will use the same method. As of now we use BTC here as payment for prepaid loads, bills etc. If airlines will do then that's more great. Hope to see it in my country 5years or less from now.

I don't know which country you belong to?? but it would definitely take a long time for the airlines to accept bitcoin as a mode of payment as even if they start accepting it as a mode of payment but the main issue is the people should be aware about the bitcoin and in my country hardly anyone knows about the bitcoin.

the sad thing is that most of the businesses see bitcoin payment method as an unnecessary addition to their business and think adding an extra option is more confusing rather than being useful.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

Thats why there are some advantages and disadvantages of making btc as payment on airlines
because many people dont know what bitcoin are

at this stage i think now bitcoin is now not more complicated to explain when we have more informative material and so many social media campaign and giveaway about it, when people will look at new payment method with bitcoin sign they will get curiosity to know about it.

Yes exactly that is fantastic news for the bitcoin community and it will make flying very much easier it will save lots of time and energy if all the airlines starts using bitcoin as a mode of payment and it will increase the awareness level of the people who are still away from bitcoins.

according to coindesk TAR, a Mexican Airline, started accepting bitcoin as payment.

http://www.coindesk.com/mexico-tar-latin-america-airline-bitcoin/

"In a statement, Jose Calzadias, commercial manager at TAR, said that the company, which serves 12 destinations throughout Mexico, would continue to evaluate payment options that give "real added value" to customers."

apparently there is another Latvian airline that started accepting bitcoin from July last year.

what do you think the effect of this is on bitcoin?
Most of the airlines or businesses that accept bitcoin usually use Bitpay as a payment processor. I believe it is actually very good for Bitcoin price, as Bitpay just this week announced that they don't sell the bitcoins on the exchange instantly. So these bitcoins are not dumped, and will probably be not dumped anytime soon. In a way this is actually good news for bitcoin as it is not being dumped and is increasing in its usage.

at some point the coins will get dumped. whether it is the next day or next week. they will get sold. they benefit when bitcoin price goes up, that's what they are waiting for.

Correct the coins will get dumped as airlines companies will wait for the right price to sell it and earn profit out of it. But for the customers of the airlines it would be really great if they can use their bitcoins as a mode of payment the payment can be made in fractions of seconds.

the sad thing is that most of the businesses see bitcoin payment method as an unnecessary addition to their business and think adding an extra option is more confusing rather than being useful.

Basically the factor is the employees themselves resist change. They don't show their interest in learning and knowing something new as they are so used to the traditional methods they view it as a complicated and unnecessary waste of time and this is applicable not only for airlines companies but for other companies too like banking they don't want any unnecessary addition to their system.

I agree.
although this is good news and will increase the publicity of bitcoin, those airlines are just some small businesses in Mexico and I don't think that this is going to have any significant influence on bitcoin especially on the price of bitcoin which is so low these days.

Soon we'll be able to flee our respective countries by spending Bitcoin instead of fiat Cheesy

Talk about a perfect escape, huh? Cheesy

Leave our country only to find ourselves stuck in another corrupted fiat laden community.

It's good to hear this, allow the minor stake that they have in the market, it's probably going to open up to other small airlines and hopefully carry along to other major ones.

Bitcoin and travel are a perfect fit. I gave a friend in Hungary some BTC for a coffee while I was lounging at home a few thousand miles away.

There are plenty of national currencies that you'd have a very hard time offloading on arrival in another country.

If you're a classier individual then privatefly.com will take your coins for your very own jet. Just 150,00 Euros from my local airport to Burma. One way of course.

more price will go up, the more merchants will start accepting bitcoins. No merchant likes a falling currency. So it's better if people hold or buy.
