According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in
Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it
will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Have it also. Got a payout from Eligius to my Bitcoin-QT. I then sent the payout to Coinbase but made a math error and left .00000004btc behind. That transaction has not been processed. When I checked the transaction on blockchain.info this error appeared: Got error 157 'Unknown error code' from NDBCLUSTER
So, I had been assuming it was somehow relating to my math error. I see it isn't.

That is regarding Blockchain.info not your wallet or transaction. FYI, Blockchain.info is currently under maintenance. BTW, your transaction will probably get rejected.

It stays in the wallet. If the transaction is not broadcasted, the Bitcoins will be unspent and you can still spend them later.

I also saw this message yesterday, was trying to view the balance of some adresses and some transactions and this messaged kept displaying. I was confused at first and thought may I wasn't copy pasting it correctly but then realized that they were having problems. Had to use another block explorer. I don't understand the transaction rejected. What happens to the btc?
This is why you should always take backup of your keys from Blockchain info wallet because if for some reason the site is down, you can still import the keys into another wallet and get hold of your funds.

I don't understand the transaction rejected. What happens to the btc?
It stays in the wallet. If the transaction is not broadcasted, the Bitcoins will be unspent and you can still spend them later. It was broadcast. My Bitcoin-QT is down now and is scheduled to open a little later but it said something like no confirmations. The transaction still doesn't show on blockchain.info although the site appears to be functioning normally. Status: 0/unconfirmed Date: 6/6/2015 10:02 To: 2015Coinbase 1DyUkPwPzFLvH8Wk5c7um75YB9EfEaeZTt Debit: -0.25207805 BTC Transaction fee: -0.0005 BTC Net amount: -0.25257805 BTC Transaction ID: 5a1e334dfa4cfe52a947a5505dc5f56bbf6e6d81493e8e44db9e373f639fd430 That's over $56 in freshly mined btc missing. See the payout was .25257809btc and I meant to sent .25207809btc with .0005btc min fee (maintaining a blockchain here) but mistakenly sent .25207805btc + .0005 transaction fee. But the transaction is being ignored.

Yes.
So, is there a Bitcoin-QT timeout that restores the btc if the transaction isn't confirmed in some set time frame?

The node that created and initially broadcast the transaction will re-broadcast the transaction at some set time frame (30 min I think) if the transaction is not confirmed.

Well then there's something very wrong. I sent the btc two days ago and no confirmations yet: Status: 0/unconfirmed Date: 6/6/2015 10:02 To: 2015Coinbase 1DyUkPwPzFLvH8Wk5c7um75YB9EfEaeZTt Debit: -0.25207805 BTC Transaction fee: -0.0005 BTC Net amount: -0.25257805 BTC Transaction ID: 5a1e334dfa4cfe52a947a5505dc5f56bbf6e6d81493e8e44db9e373f639fd430

I looked up the tx id and both blockchain.info and blocktrail don't have that transaction, so it was never broadcasted.

Try -rescan command and if it didn't work, try -reindex. I've contacted Coinbase.
If the transaction was not broadcasted, then there is no use in contacting Coinbase support.

I wonder if it relates to a hate of satoshi. My error in not including the entire Eligius payout, besides the transaction fee I mistakenly left .00000004 btc in my wallet, created that .00000004 btc chunk.
