If you downloaded the block chain and it just deleted all your coins. It would save the time and hassle of getting them stolen anyway and cuts out the middle man.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Cool thread!

Also, it would be easier if your Bitcoins were lost whenever your system disconnected from the network. That way you wouldn't have to worry about cold storage at all.
