Whether Vite has a valid point for not, did I just read several posts by users here sticking it up his ass, oppose to addressing his concerns with finesse? Those are not the type of posts I would want the people I'm trying to bring on board to start using Bitcoin to read. In essence, you just told Vite to go fuck himself and that you don't desire his type around here. Shame!

No. It was a response to the claim he made that the value transfer system (bitcoin) and the community (forum) are to blame for the situation. Neither of those claims is true.

It's like saying that the internet is bad for news, because people can go online and tell lies.

ADDENDUM: @Vite: Really sorry you had to learn it the hard way! Organize a group of people and hunt those scammers down!

Bitcoin is exactly what it was before you got ripped off. If you rationally evaluate things on their own merits your life will be better than otherwise.

At some point a good barman tells the scammer to GTFO.

Exactly.

We have hundreds of users that would have long been permabanned on normal forums. Why the heck? What's the benefit?

Well I assume the benefit is morally bankrupt Admins and mods help Pirate (and other scams) run their operations, shield them from scrutiny and lend them credibility in exchange for large payments of bitcoin.

So, you "invested" in obvious scam, and now you are mad at bitcoins?

You only have yourself to blame. No where in the real world can you get the ROI's they promised, so why wouldn't it have been a scam here?

You got greedy, and con men taught you a lesson. Twice.

I wont defend the con men, or a forum that allows (encourages) them to operate freely, but I will say that bitcoin needs less suckers. Sorry that you lost your money, but people need to stop letting this bullshit happen.

+1. I don't see how anyone sees 7% *PER WEEK* and doesn't recognize it as an obvious scam.

Bitcoin incentivizes personal responsibility and accountability. You own and manage your own money. It is up to you to handle it appropriately. If you are reckless, you will be burned and will *hopefully* learn your lesson. Did you, OP?

Bitcoin is the first monetary system to credibly offer perfect information to all economic participants.

Learned my lesson. Cost roughly $250.
I am not so pissed at the pirate blow up, cause It was a ponzi and I did not get out on time.

I am pissed at the %1.9 weekly cd, that was much in like with other non pirate offers that blew up.

Regardless I am bitcoin 0 that really has me annoyed cause I actually did some work for them... Unlike my restaurant were I own hence I get to boss some people around lol

My mood is changing so I might reconsider bitcoins again if anyone ever comes to Panama...

Learned my lesson. Cost roughly $250.

That's part of the learning process. I burned myself on the regular stock market. After the Lehman crash my investments lost 70% of their value and $3000 went down the drain. It's one thing to consciously know that investments carry risks and it's something entirely different to have a subconscious feeling and understanding of risk: that it's real, it does really happen and how it feels and how it alters your life.

It's the difference between a 19 year old who knows that car accidents happen and someone who has been in one. This realization alters your behavior forever. And $250 was actually a cheap price to pay - as long as you realize that it's not specific to Bitcoins. The same could have happened with USDs, stocks, hedge funds, pension funds, burglary etc.
