When Martti Malmi found Bitcoin in the spring of 2009, he was in his second year at the Helsinki University of Technology. Lanky, with birdlike features, Martti shied away from social contact. He was happiest in his room with his computer, writing code, which he had learned to do at age 12, or hammering away at enemies in online games, while listening to heavy metal music on headphones.

Quote
Despite Martti’s relative lack of programming experience, Satoshi gave him full permission to make changes to the core Bitcoin software on the server where it was stored—something that, to this point, only Satoshi could do. Starting in August, the log of changes to the software showed that Martti was now the main actor. When the next version of Bitcoin, 0.2, was released, Satoshi gave credit for most of the improvements to Martti.

I think it's "sirius": https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=4

(note, uid=4!)

Also, here's a thread where people speculate about whether he *is* Satoshi:

Thanks for the link to the story.  That was a fun read and I didn't know about MM before.

Correct.

Also, here's a thread where people speculate about whether he *is* Satoshi:
Martti/sirius is not Satoshi.
Compare for yourself:

Yeah, well, I'm gonna go build my own blockchain. With blackjack and hookers! In fact forget the blockchain.

Thanks a lot. So Sirius (Martti Malmi) is among the very few people who might be knowing the real identity of Satoshi (along with a few of the other admins / users of this forum such as Theymos). I don't think that he is the real Satoshi, but I am more or less sure that he knows the real identity of Satoshi. This is what is given in the article:

He and Satoshi communicated regularly and fell into an easy rapport.

I think I misplaced the emphasis there.  I didn't mean to insinuate that I think he is Satoshi, only to underline his connection to early bitcoin and show OP a thread where he's even speculated about as Satoshi.
