There were some indications of people considering XT's potential fork an altcoin and I won't say that this claim doesn't sound reasonable, I just didn't expect theymos to support it openly, on the other hand, I also didn't expect him to openly support a fork in the terms of Gavin Andresen and Mike Hearn. For what it's worth, Theymos also made a public comment on github on a discussion regarding bitcoin and forks. It's not big or extremely detailed, but certainly sheds some light to what he thinks about his thoughts on the topic.

All of the moderators have orders from the administrators to move threads solely about Bitcoin XT to the alt currencies section. Threads involving both Bitcoin Core and Bitcoin XT are allowed to stay in Bitcoin discussion.

As I mentioned in that PM, this policy only applies to XT once it is actually modified such that it diverges from the Bitcoin network/currency, which is not yet the case. It's an awfully complicated issue, and this was sort of buried near the bottom of my three-page justification PM, so I don't blame you/anyone for missing it.

Ah ok, that makes sense then. Bitcoin XT will be an altcoin when established.

That would be a bit fun
All the active XT threads would need to shift back to Bitcoin Discussion if it became the main chain.
As for the XT move to Altcoins neutral as long as there are threads in main to discuss both it seems fine.

I really hope it wont become the main chain. It would mean a company would own bitcoin for some part. They surely have a brand name on "Bitcoin-XT". Then the development will be fully in a persons or companies hand. Since i doubt that we would take it away from them again when we first gave it to them.

I think we need to change something though no need to be too hasty. And i think certain developers disqualified themselves with a practical extortion.

Why should the community give bitcoins in the hands of a private company so easily? Thats something i dont understand. Bitcoin-XT is not the old bitcoin, its a privatized bitcoin to some degree. Sure, they dont have so much power about it. But it looks to me like the attempt of a hostile take-over.

Do i see this wrong somehow?

Please ALWAYS contact me through bitcointalk pm before sending someone coins.
