Is anyone else getting completely dicked around and screwed over by a Poloniex verification guy with a vendetta and no other purpose in life?

EDIT: Problem solved thanks to MobyDick_Poloniex.

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Do you get such kind of experiences? Probably you can share with us! We are fine with that verification.

I was fine with it until I was made to jump through 100 hoops to verify my address.

Lol.

I usually get that address verification crap too. Always a pain in the ass.

Bittrex leaves you alone. But then again, you can't buy Bitcoin through them. That's the problem. Any exchange where you can buy Bitcoin and that deals with the U.S.A in any way, has these draconian rules.

Banking sectors in other countries also suffer the U.S rules & regs or they aren't allowed to play with them. War on terrorism and all that.

Poloniex doesn't sell Bitcoin though.  At least not for fiat.

Then man, there's absolutely no reason to be jumping through hoops. None whatsoever. Address ID is just for credit card/debit card and for a company that has to follow U.S financial procedure, and if you can't even by BTC with them, then I have no idea why you'd jump through hoops. I'm guessing the laws may have been extended to any financial products now.

Try Bittrex, zero hassle there. Email address, password, and then you're done. Gotta have your own BTC first though (or other coin.)

PM me your login or open a support ticket and PM me the ticket number.  I'd be happy to look into why your verification required any extra steps.

Absolutely not.  In fact I was a huge Poloniex fan even after their recent abrupt policy change.  But you might want to ask yourself if you would be comfortable trusting a company with your most personal information if they require extra personal information when you're rude.

Thank you, I will gladly take you up on that if this gets any more extreme.

Can anyone verify that MobyDick_Poloniex is indeed from Poloniex?

I'm 99% sure that's really Moby

Even though Polo still hates me, I agree 100% with their policy change. It means they are ready to scale, which in business, is life and death. Gox started their slippery slope by not being built to scale

I have not any issues with Poloniex, other than the odd failed XMR withdrawal which is handled promptly after posting in the Trollbox. I have completed the verification to the highest level with no problems.

Concerned that blockchain bloat will lead to centralization? Storing less than 4 GB of data once required the budget of a superpower and a warehouse full of punched cards. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/87/IBM_card_storage.NARA.jpg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punched_card

there is absolutely no reason to stay in  Poloniex anymore. they don't have anything special and different from other exchangers.
use bittrex instead, it has the same trade volume and doesn't need you to jump through hoops to be able to trade / withdraw / deposit there.

My withdrawals are still frozen while I wait for a verification letter to arrive in the mail.  I'm told it takes 7-10 business days.

Poloniex is a great exchange and can be trust.

agree about it, also have one of the best exchange style out of there, but i start to dislike them since they start to use that thing about to complete your user profile to increase your limits, i dont like that.

out of there i never had any problems with them.
