The optimum is as many as you can get!

Don't think there is a minimum but a very small amount will obviously only stake a small reward.  I'd guess a few tens of thousands is a decent starting point.

There is no set frequency of payment; what you see will depend on how many coins you have in your wallet, the age of the coins, and so on, but staking rewards are granted with every block, and paid automatically to your wallet.  Newly staked coins require 30 blocks to mature.

Newly moved or staked coins need to have aged for 5 days before they will start to stake.

To take an example of, say 100,000 coins:

In an ideal scenario 100,000 V will earn 60,000 V in interest per year (ignoring the interest in the interest).

So if you had your wallet open 24x7, 365 days, those 60,000 V would be earned at about 164 per day.

To optimize your staking there is the a coin control integrated in the wallet. This allows you to split your coins to increase interest. More information can be found in discord.

I compiled the wallet for ubuntu 64 but. It consumes 100%CPU and about 1.5 GB memory, constantly. Not sure how to get around this problem.

One more thing, how do I use coin control in ubuntu version?

Just the same as in other versions.
If there is no coin control button on the send page then you just have to enable it at
Controls > Options > Display > Display Coin Control Features

Controls > Options > Display > Display Coin Control Features

There is no such menu. No Vault, Control, Help at all. Just a working wallet.

Graphic, but there is no such menu. It is weird. I will try to recompile it later.
I will come to discord
