If this were to happen it would be a dream come true for every bitcoiner but realistically for something like this to happen Bitcoin first of all would need to get legal status and it won't be without imposing certain restrictions, government won't give away their control to a decentralized currency. I think firstly we should convince more and more companies who conduct their business online to accept bitcoin, once we are able to achieve that then we can think of getting it accepted to local retail stores.

But to answer your question, I try to find shops with bitcoin when I am looking to buy something and if someday it is possible I would love to purchase everything with BTC.

Of course. I don't think there's any reason why I shouldn't. It is what everybody is waiting for.... for bitcoin to be accepted mainstream and it means going anywhere and you can actually spend your coins at every shop and outlet. The thing which I can imagine most convenient is when you are traveling to any country and that you don't need to carry different types of currency with you.

I am curious as to why and who would use bitcoin if it was accepted everywhere.

I know it would be great for everyone who has invested into bitcoin, but if it was just as accepted as money would you still be as inclined to use it?

If you have a business that involves bitcoin or you have some sort of exchange then I can see it being a great thing for demand, but why would you use it if you could just as easily use fiat money?

Transaction times are a bit too slow for mass adoption at the moment and we all here still need to get rich so it's more of an investment right now. After this I'm going to use my valuable satoshies for basically everything to stay away from controlled banking system..

How are transaction times slow? They're instant. Confirmation times don't really matter. Once you've sent your money it's as good as sent/recieved.

this is a common mistake to say transaction instead of confirmation time.

and i think that is an issue right now because a shop has to wait at least 5 minute and at worst half an hour to get confirmation (really receive the money in his pocket).

otherwise there is the risk of double spend of 0 confirmations.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.

Yes of course, I'd use bitcoin more than I use dollars.  Cheesy But bitcoin would only get more accept if there's a bigger demand in the market, and everyone is willing to try this new piece of technology that they never seen before. I would for sure spend more time to invest in bitcoin if it was accepted in McDonald for example. That means I don't even have to carry a wallet when I go out, just a bitcoin debit/master card. I wish this would happen some day.  Smiley

I am curious as to why and who would use bitcoin if it was accepted everywhere.

Very few 'buyers of bitcoin' will ever use Bitcoin to make traditional purchases, even if it's accepted everywhere. And here's why ...

Not a single person on this forum has been able to provide an "intelligent" explanation as to why a consumer would willingly and regularly take an extra step to make a purchase. Why would my next door neighbor go to the trouble to buy BTC to make a purchase when he could have already made the same purchase using the debit card in his pocket.

What is his motivation for taking that extra step?

Don't try to make people think that BTC is only good for illegal stuff...

Not every seller is able to accept credit card because I myself would have no idea how to use it if I wanted to do small sells , but I know it would be expensive.

And Bitcoin makes possible people earn money by ways that would not be possible or would be too difficult before the Bitcoin era, and they need to spend the money sometimes{I myself face this problem}

If Bitcoin were accepted everywhere, of course we would use it. There wouldn't be any fiat around to use.

I would.  Easier than straightening out lining up my dollars.  I would really like to pay for my gas with it.  And not have to worry about some skimmer stealing my credit card number.

what if you cash at your atm and you use cash to by eroine? not much different than doing it in bitcoin, but i think worse, because no one will know how you used those little money

bears in mind that the OP is talking about a scenario where the wage is payed directly in bitcoin, so you don't need to buy any bitcoin, this is the real difference and that's the only advantage that fiat have over bitcoin right now

if it wasn't for that stupid advantages bitcoin would be a far better choice than any fiat garbage

So you don't think it's even mildly curious that when Silk Road is alive and well, no one is afraid to do illegal stuff with Bitcoin because they think they're anonymous, Pirate's Ponzi is running and illegal stock offerings are everywhere Bitcoin had a 15 billion market cap and the price was climbing daily. Then the sheriff came to town, killed all the train robbers, made them realize they're not anonymous, started applying the law to LBC and woke everyone up, Bitcoins market cap dropped to 3 billion and the price is more stable than a loaf of bread since that happened. Sorry, but that's a little too coincidental for me. The volume you see now is mostly normal legal trade. That sucks. I want Bitcoin to soar again because I'm holding a bunch of them.

A place for everything and everything in its place. There's nothing wrong with Bitcoin filling the illegal market niche. Let's face it, it's easy for everyone to buy legal things with their current payment method. They don't need to change. People are naturally lazy and if they don't need to do something they usually won't. The desire for illegal items gave people a real need to use Bitcoin. Isn't that what we all want?
