There are a select few Twitter feeds that the worlds press are sitting on right now. They are also monitored by people in Greece.

A single new Bitcoin ATM machine has just appeared in Athens.

I suggest that this is a rare strategic opportunity to get Bitcoin a bit of temporary propulsion. Retweet this tweet and try to get it to float. All the appropriate hashtags are contained but feel free to propagate. Bitcointalk has a huge audience and this is a nothing-to-loose opportunity.

Bitcoin can do 2 things for people in Greece:

[1] - facilitate electronic transfers of cash. People are avoiding using credit cards or debit cards right now because they're worried their money's going to dissapear down a hole. Everyone wants cash.

[2] - in the event of a currency reset, it can arrest personal losses during a devaluation

Here's the tweet:

Under this uncertain situation, ppl just realize the importance of bitcoin! But for the most ppl's money are stuck in the exchanges. There are limited amount of the money for them that can be used to buy bitcoin. Besides that, they need spare money for daily consumption. But for most of us, it will be a good lesson for heavily fiat money holders.

But how will they buy the coins?  It is a pita to get them, they can't just buy them at the store.  Plus their money is stuck in the banks.  There will be serious limits at the banks for the near future because the Greek government knows that the run will continue.  So imo it is too late for the Greek people to take advantage of bitcoins.

Even though I've seen a lot of people doubting these campaigns, they can't hurt. The problem for Greeks is that most of them probably don't know how to buy/use Bitcoin nor do they understand it.
I've been watching Google trends and it looks like that Bitcoin is getting more attention recently. We need someone with a lot of followers from Greece to pick it up.

Yes, I think that the more important thing is all of the media that bitcoins is getting.  I just read an article on CNBC website, a pretty major outlet.  Sure it wasn't that well written but at least it has an audience.  I think the twitter thing can't hurt, and it might end up helping some people in Greece if they can get their money into bitcoins before the government steals it or the banks fold (yay fractional reserve banking!)

Bitcoin will gain a lot of exposure to the public from this big event. No matter they buy or not, they know they have alternative to fiat money without the centralized gov's control.

That's what I am saying too.
People will keep their €60 per day, cash at hand in case they need it.
And the majority of shops/businesses will ONLY accept cash now.

[1] - facilitate electronic transfers of cash
This is the current situation in Greece, "Greek banks are closed as the government limited cash withdrawals to about $68 per day in a bid to stave off bank runs and keep its financial system from collapsing" still, do you think will it be safe to use the Bitcoins at present conditions ?

(Not saying you do, but...) If you do decide to campaign @ the greeks, try and be sensitive to their situation rather than just shoving BTC down their throats. Just my two cents.

This can really help the bitcoin community as well as the citizens of the greek country. Those people are suffering through closed banks and capital control money which is a really shitty experience knowing that even if you have a million dollars in the bank, you can only be allowed to use around 60€ a day or something

I have just been Following Google Trends and i was shocked !!
Greece has won the curosity in bitcoins and have defeated China in it , most experts says the hike in price you see now in bitcoins is all because of NEWly made ATMs in Athens , but i Doubt.

Newly made ATM's? Maybe you meant BTM's? If so, there are more than the one that came on the recent news?

I heard bitcoin ATM only ! don't know much but thinks it would probably work like general ATM machines in which you can TOP UP(Bitcoin debit card) your card with Real money.

The news is actually almost everywhere. I've been trying to find news from countries that are small and could be considered irrelevant. After a while of translating and searching I've found articles that are related in a lot of places. The media exposure could help Greeks with Bitcoin and Bitcoin itself.
I'm very eager to see how this one plays out.

"Under certain situation" - you mean when your country's economy is crumbling, banks are closed and your FIAT is frozen and unable to be claimed?
I am sure that bitcoin popularity could capitalize on that. The only problem that in our current state, you can have bitcoin ATM but you can't buy groceries for bitcoin.
So what is the point?
