Bitcoin-qt reindexing again?

I updated my bitcoin-qt and the newer version, Bitcoin Core, reindexed the blocks.  It shuts down every day and now today it says it has to reindex all the blocks again.

Yesterday I sent ~.1 btc to Coinbase.

Is this maintaining a blockchain getting abusive?  Some kind of scam to force the use of an online wallet that will incur charges?

I'm not entirely sure why your client is shutting down and forcing you to reindex every day.  That would seem to indicate an issue with your machine.  I've got multiple instances of the latest release (0.10.2) running on Linux, OS X and Windows and they do not suffer that problem.

Also, you aren't forced into using an online wallet.  You can use SPV clients like MultiBit HD and Electrum.

Same thing happening here !
bitcoin core seems to never get past the "last 9 days" when downloading blockchain (takes me about 4 days on my win7 laptop !)
After that, when  I close bitcoin core and re-start it has to reindix the blocks (second time it's happened in a row, and it takes me about 48 hours to do so !)

Besides making sure that bitcoin core is completely closed the next time I close it, IS THERE ANYWAY THAT I CAN MAKE A BACKUP OF THE BLOCKCHAIN ONCE IT'S FULLY REINDEXED SO THAT I CAN USE THAT BACKUP IN CASE I AM HAVING TO REINDEX AGAIN ?

No, the files get corrupted on your disk, thats why you need to rebuild said files. To copy corrupted files will not solve your problem.

I suggest you two reading this[1] thread. The most likely issue for this is a hardware problem or something outside of bitcoin core. The thread in question contains tips for tools to test your hardware with.

Use e.g. 7-Zip in "Synchronize files" mode to archive the "chainstate" directory, because this is the one that's get corrupted most often. When in doubt read the "debug.log".

Thanks, I am doing that right now. So, if next time I open bitcoin core it gives me the reindex problem again, can I just unzip this chainstate directory and replace the one in appdata/bitcoin with this backup and then no need to reindex again?

Right now bitcoin core, after having reindexed for almost three whole days, it is now updating download of recent blockchain blocks, but it seems stuck at "9 hours"...

I have some experimental drivers on my laptop and they occasionally blue-screen it. Thus far I tried 7-unzip twice and in both cases it worked and saved lot of re-indexing time. I just delete what's left in the chainstate directory right after blue-screen.

Interestingly Litecoin doesn't suffer the chainstate corruption under exactly same circumstances.

Great ! this is what i was looking for. Let's hope I don't run into the problem of having to reindex. I need to make sure I close down bitcoin core well and completely is something I've read regarding this problem elsewhere in these forums.

PS: Didn't know litecoin was still kicking; I bought a very little amount many months ago and saw that the price had collpased so thought it would probably dissapear completely.
