I'm an idiot. I somehow lost or threw away the password and seed of my default electrum wallet. It has .5596 BTC in it. Anyone willing to bruteforce it for half of the BTC? I know it's not much, but I would really appreciate it. I may have an idea to the password if that would help. I believe it's something cheeky like "usedfordarknet" or "fordarknet". Perhaps of note: when I enter the former password suggestion into the seed request it does not come up as invalid password but reveals a blank seed that states 0 word seed. Yet, entering this same password to send the BTC registers as an invalid password. Curious.

Here is the .dat file:

{'addr_history': {'1JSBgSJDhQ64n6NtFdrj2uuiMH9mhCJGbJ': [], '1Lsy8NscKCrYphko166EXFk9mEAnmUYm6P': [], '1EZ4dRQfcoiztyoSy8r2SRjgXMwrwaJRuf': [(u'a62778f840f0e397d2d38d6fe4499d6678b25497bc4db5b8fb09eeeaf5c5f0c1', 359754)], '1MgPB5gZCN78WBuFieBGyVf2xQrkKiqPkq': [], '1MZXXYxk3FsiwRx42UcEBXbVL9mwtyKgmK': [], '1A6uuUq88i4ZXoWSwv5tGgCCnryoE5VTXx': [], '16SjczS2rmX2hDds2mGSK2282wU7AqCijb': [], '1BRtACHBB9inxxpcskSwHmpWogSCneqmq4': [], '1HiwB15pynPDion9BiGiSZuKdLdhy2EVYg': []}, 'accounts_expanded': {}, 'transactions': {u'a62778f840f0e397d2d38d6fe4499d6678b25497bc4db5b8fb09eeeaf5c5f0c1': '010000000147285ac4923573731f6e1b24b21d32cd77af9a3b080861d6688b3c2a143d63e300000 0006a4730440220068dc417ed820daac70ce558e2c661197d0da78acc4b7c12fc087fef6b4ce729 022012db10f93bddfbc12c42738b9aaf6017f4cbb0743d5c806d92d86ca27500b42601210251c30 81172fd9c8de5866771038ab8e513f94d1733bbb19ff0d0ef276ce5c5f0ffffffff02c0e1550300 0000001976a91494a9f973c271ec6fff23ecdcbbfb7f1701f9607988ac07bba3ef010000001976a 91439d850388bdf798e1bb8c8bf4c1b53958906c74b88ac00000000'}, 'use_encryption': True, 'master_public_key': '4039d606f3050203309fc5230713631928a25a6d09d262c8929bafe5ac196a94c596b6669de7e6c c8aafff088fc68ee772ed856f5ae7a089ffa7f2c130e7c719', 'seed': 'QJA7vVqVDsUM1CaKVJXVSvO0e8hkQUsQbE5YqfguJX3Fs+1WP5XDSAjtxQU5L2fQiS7p5+zJ58B2lftmiZaa5g==', 'accounts': {0: {0: ['1EZ4dRQfcoiztyoSy8r2SRjgXMwrwaJRuf', '1MgPB5gZCN78WBuFieBGyVf2xQrkKiqPkq', '16SjczS2rmX2hDds2mGSK2282wU7AqCijb', '1BRtACHBB9inxxpcskSwHmpWogSCneqmq4', '1A6uuUq88i4ZXoWSwv5tGgCCnryoE5VTXx', '1MZXXYxk3FsiwRx42UcEBXbVL9mwtyKgmK'], 1: ['1JSBgSJDhQ64n6NtFdrj2uuiMH9mhCJGbJ', '1Lsy8NscKCrYphko166EXFk9mEAnmUYm6P', '1HiwB15pynPDion9BiGiSZuKdLdhy2EVYg'], 'mpk': '4039d606f3050203309fc5230713631928a25a6d09d262c8929bafe5ac196a94c596b6669de7e6c c8aafff088fc68ee772ed856f5ae7a089ffa7f2c130e7c719'}}, 'seed_version': 4, 'verified_tx3': {u'a62778f840f0e397d2d38d6fe4499d6678b25497bc4db5b8fb09eeeaf5c5f0c1': (359754, 1433631249, 62)}}

Bruteforcing a password/seed is not easy to bruteforce at all. However, if you have an idea as to what the password is approximately, I can give it a try.

However, at the same time, it's highly possible that I won't be able to find a maatch. Please treat this as a lesson about backup procedures.

I have recently become active again after a long period of inactivity. Cryptographic proof that my account has not been compromised is available.

Yes. Believe me, the lesson is learned. That would be great if you would give it a go. Is there any other info you need?

I think I have everything I need. I'll run some likely typos from the passwords you provided first. I can make no guarantees at all, unfortunately.

I'm sorry, I haven't managed to achieve anything when running through common typos (and uncommon typos). However, it is still possible someone might have the computing power to try to recover it (I'm working on an anemic laptop at the moment).

I did have an idea for a hardware project for this purpose; if I do create it I'll try it on your data (and PM you in the unlikely case my project works and finds your passphrase).

The block of text above isn't a complete .dat file, comparing to my own backup. I'm a noob, so all I was able to load was your MPK* as a watch-only wallet *4039d606f3050203309fc5230713631928a25a6d09d262c8929bafe5ac196a94c596b6669de7e6cc8aafff088fc68ee772ed856f5ae7a089ffa7f2c130e7c719
and it shows 1EZ4dRQfcoiztyoSy8r2SRjgXMwrwaJRuf as the only address with BTC on it, 0.5596 as you said.

Trying to use http://aesencryption.net/ on the seed QJA7vVqVDsUM1CaKVJXVSvO0e8hkQUsQbE5YqfguJX3Fs+1WP5XDSAjtxQU5L2fQiS7p5+zJ58B2lftmiZaa5g==

The original code block OP gave contains stray spaces. Not sure about the one slightly above; trying the original shouldn't hurt (as my Electrum installation opens it fine after I remove the spaces from within the long hex strings)

Edit: Worst comes to worst, I have a fairly powerful FPGA around and too much free time Cheesy

I used TextEdit. For such a low bounty, I don't have time to mess with this anymore.

Again. Thanks to anyone who is helping out. I know it's not much and most likely it's not worth your time. Someone said that I included an incomplete dat file. I saved a copied of my wallet to my desktop and that's the block of text I received. It opens in basic textedit application. Here it is again:

I've tried my fair share of helping, but no success so far. Any other clues as for the password? Any numbers or "non-regular" characters? If you want you can PM me with such info.

Same situation here; if you're comfortable sharing additional information with me, I will continue searching.

Hi, I see this wallet is still locked and since has increased in value. I'm running a wallet recovery service now. I already ran a fair number of wordlists and rules on this but this did not found anything. Do you have some more ideas on the possible passwords? This would allow us to create a mutation list on it in order to narrow down the search area. Also, do you know if you used spaces, numbers, special characters..?

I'd like to spends some more capacity in case there are better tips.
Have you checked out first on when this thread being created? This is already a 3 year old thread and op Last Active:  August 15, 2017, 02:07:19 AM which supposed this problem isn't resolved at all since there no updates ever since. You are just simply necro-posting here. Back on topic though, recovering a wallet without a seed is impossible.
