I have encrypted my wallet via the bitcoin client.
My password has 17 characters.
It is contains case sensitive alphanumeric symbols.
Is this encryption difficult to break in case the wallet is stolen?

If they just have the wallet but no idea what your password is, then it is incredibly unlikely that they would be able to decrypt it. You still have to worry about them getting your password due to malware or social engineering.

Yes, it is difficult to break. 17 character password protected by AES will take millions of years.

To be safe, send all your bitcoins in that wallet to a new wallet in 5 to 10 years, just in case someone gets your wallet.dat file and starts bruteforcing it. When he cracks it in 20 years, there's no bitcoins anymore. He'll need to steal your new wallet.

Don't forget about keyloggers. They will get your password no matter how long.

It would take a very long time to decrypt your wallet. You're good. You may want to change the number of characters in your password now, as that you've told the internet it's 17.

Ha.

If they know its 17 characters, now the attacker only needs 10,000 lifetimes to find the password as opposed to 18,000 if he had to try all the shorter passwords too.

I just registered for the $PLOTS presale! Thank you @plotsfinance for allowing me to purchase tokens at the discounted valuation of only $0.015 per token, a special offer for anyone who participated in the airdrop. Tier II round is for the public at $0.025 per token. Allocation is very limited and you need to register first using the official Part III link found on their twitter. That's me, overly cautious.

Just add an extra character. Now it's 18. And the brute force possibilities and time go up exponentially. Like, an extra century or something extremely long.
