As I see this is topic turning to some sort of what's your favourite shitcoin and what are you bagholding discussion Smiley.

I guess some 2013-2014 developers were able to accumulate some good amount of money, and a couple of traders and PDers surely made a lot of money, but I doubt that they've made millions. Perhaps you should ask some early adopters like BitcoinEXpress if he/she/it/they/those (pick your favourite) knows anyone who got rich with alts Smiley.

BTW a few high profile scammers like Josh Garza are good candidates for the altmillonaire status.

I guess the question.. When ?
If you got BTC when it was a few cents each that is different than trying to get rich right now.

Hey,

my question is, have someone done it here with altcoins to get rich?

This mean with a small amount of bitcoins (under 5 btc) make a few hundert bitcoins?

I had a few times the chance, but everytime i sold the coin a lot too early.  Cry
I hate it seeing that "your" coin is rising and rising but you are out.  Lips sealed (and its too late to make BIG profits)

few hundred btc aint exactly rich  Huh that wouldn't come close to even buying a crappy apartment (well in my country),and more then just rich own houses.

Most people borrow money to buy houses and apartments.

The biggest thing for making money while you trade alts is not running and putting your altcoin profit into some other shitcoin and losing it. Learn when to step back and wait to turn your precious btc into some alt.

Have you studied Monero?

Monero has fair POW distribution.
I recommend to study Monero as these are probably the last days/weeks/months to get cheap Moneros due to declining emission schedule.

In your opinion, why Monero over say Bitcoindark?

Because of he holds a lot I guess Smiley. When someone here recommends something as the last chance of getting it dirt cheap is almost gone, that usually means that you found a bagholder or a shill Smiley.
BTW the only bad thing with Monero is the cult around it (and that f*ckin client what gobbling up 4GB of memory when loading the blockchain).

Personally the cult around Monero is one of the major advantages. It reminds me the cult there is around bitcoin and we all know to where it leads.
I am a Monero owner because I find it the only alt coin worth to hold.
There are big names interested in Monero and the high chance of big money entering to the market makes me bullish on that coin. The community is large enough that it can absorb any bigger dumps relatively easily, and the price has established around here where we are now.
I hope you will not leave behind the train.... It is not late to buy Moneros when the DB issue has taken fully care of but I think it is better to invest in Monero when it is still as its infant state and let it grow organically after then, and perhaps keep buying it all the way up (not recommended to go all-in once but make a buying plan rather and then top be disciplined).

But i will show some screens when its happening (cross fingers). from 1 btc over 100 btc  Smiley

As he still dreaming in his house, in addition he's dead, I wouldn't expect too much impact on the price in the near future because of his actions Smiley.

Yes, I've tried to use the official client (0.8.8.6) but that's hogging up all the memory on my laptop and I had to fire up a dedicated machine with 16 GB RAM to get it work. That was the point when I decided to leave my old wallets alone and wait more for usable client. As I see this is still something where I have to do a lot of tinkering to get it work :/.

Have you guys realized that XMR never going to succeed without a fast and easy to use GUI client?

Getting mainstream, used by a lot of Average Joe's for doing everyday stuff (like in the case of Paypal).

i didn't get rich from trading altcoin but i had a very nice +profit from my trades over time. and i literally started from 0 on CEX.IO back when it had no trade volume limit.

all i can tell you is that when you get out of the coin don't look back again Smiley it is only going to be hurtful try and take whatever profit you are comfortable with and get out happily.

Alt pumpers depend on people dreaming of turning their 5 BTC into 100. They're the ones who're pulling that off over and over again, not the dreamers they prey upon.

I disagree. Cults are the death of objectivity and reasoning and that's never a good thing. I think we should make a sharp distinction between community and "cultists". Community is something what can grow organically in many directions, but a cult is something what forcing it's way into only a few directions without caring too much about the fundamentals and supports. BTW the cult around BTC is equally damaging.

I'm also holding some Monero what I've mined in the beginning and bought when it was new and really cheap. But at this moment I see it as an overrepresented asset without the real power to make a breakthrough. Everybody is talking about price, absorbing dumps, predictions, but in the meantime the client looks like (and as comfortable as) a console app from the 70's, but you need a server hardware to run it. There are very limited real world services for it, and no one seems to be realize that without an easy to use client (incl. mobile clients) and services what ppl need in their everyday life XMR will remain only a toy for geeks and daytraders.

(Actually this stuff what I wrote above is true for almost every coins :/.)

I always sold too early....
My worst investment was Quark (in 2013)..... I bought 2 500 000 Quarks for 2.1 BTC  @100 sat....
And sold at @350 sat for 8.5 BTC one month later......

I was such a fool...... one month after i sold, price was @20 000 sat per coin.  Tongue
I could sell for 500 BTC ... but nevermind.....

Weed saved me... LOL
I can´t walk away from crypto..... I do believe I will hit some coin in the future.
Patience is the key.
