My next choice is Steve Gibson.  No idea what his Bitcointalk alias is, if he even has one.
Sam

+1 for Steve Gibson if he's actually around here. Smiley

Also thinik Gigavps is a good choice.  He may already be a BFL supporter, but he's got a lot to lose if they're smoke and mirrors.

Me.

Because I'm willed to spend 2000€ on tickets to go till there (I'm from the eu). And I usually take even 1000 photos/day if I like what i see.

I have no order with BFL, I'm really critic against them and I have an Avalon ASIC order.

I have a strong unix background.

I could also share my experience in italian for better reaching that market.

Anyway, since that none is gonna vote me, i will just go a step back.

(btw: asking the btc community to decide who of them is reputable, really???)

My anger against what is wrong in the Bitcoin community is productive:

Me and a friend would be interested in going. I know i'm new to this scene but I already have a couple mining rigs up and running, a headless 5830 x3 and my main computer with a 7970 and 5830. We do have a pre-order with BFL for 2 SC singles (possibly a lot more orders if there's actual proof they work), so I would say i'm pretty motivated to blow the whistle if we see anything suspicious. I have been fairly skeptical of BFL since the beginning but went ahead and pre-ordered since they do have a track record of delivering. I would also fully disclose everything we see and do inside BFL. If it counts we never invested with pirate.

I myself work in remote DSL tech support and my friend is an A&P aviation mechanic so we both are good at dealing with software/hardware configurations, with mining at least as well as any other computer issues. We are in Miami so we would be flying out of MIA/FLL.

I'd vote for Reeses if he's interested in going. He might be an abrasive asshole, but he's the only one I've seen on the forums not related to BFL or a competitor talk about actually using chip design packages.

What's the point if it's so close to when the devices ship? So many people have already paid and are waiting for shipment.

Also, I assume this means we'll be delayed well into November now?

I'd like to nominate yochdog to go check it out.  He's knowledgeable and unbiased.

Thanks!

I'd like to throw my hat in. I was (not currently) an electronics specialist. I'm trained in electronics troubleshooting and general electronic circuit theory. I've been mining bitcoins for well over a year at this point and regularly help others do the same on IRC (I'm doing that right now actually).

When BFL first made their claims I was skeptical and advised others to be careful. When they started shipping their products I acknowledged that. I have never owned a BFL product and have no plans to in the near future.

I imagine there will be some restrictions on info coming out of the BFL facility but I can promise that I would return the maximum amount and describe what I see in as much detail as possible. I don't have a quality camera but can snap photos/take video on my ipod touch. If someone could get a camera to me I'd use it and return it (sender must pay shipping).

I'd require air fare coming and going as well as room and board.

I'd like to throw in support for yochdog as well.  I've had a good experience with him and I know he knows his stuff.  I'd love to hear what he has to say.

Want to cast my vote for Yochdog. He trusted me and gave me a chance when I started on this forum a couple of months ago. He is a great member of this community!

DeathAndTaxes (if he has time) would be an excellent choice, as well as JoelKatz.

I'd like to go, but I'm pretty sure I'm not that well known.

I'll nominate yochdog. He's a miner, seems pretty well known, has BFL FPGAs, and has traded tens of thousands of dollars with forum members including a few thousand with me. I'd trust his report.

My nomination as well.

I find your lack of faith disturbing.  You leave room for doubt?  Besides, everyone knows that Cadence products crash and are held together with so much hacked up special-case code and prayer.  It's not exactly a secret...is it?  Wink

I can't go for a couple reasons.  The only necessary one is that my wife has an insane security clearance, meaning that I have to be cleared as well.  Given what is documented about Sonny, I cannot risk her job because of a forum.  Not because she makes a lot, but because she really likes litigating and would divorce me in a hot second if I engaged in illicit activity.  Undecided

I'm not confident enough in BFL to keep me out of the shit.

Consider this the BFL equivalent of the Pirate dinner, except with airfare, hotel, and a "tour" of assembly facilities.  I think it's a sufficiently rigged demo and Sonny is going back to his scammer bag of tricks to calm down the restless horde.

Sorry, Josh.  I call it as I see it.  Nice distraction, though.  That's why it's such an effective technique.  Have one or two "hot" girls who laugh at their jokes guide through the visit, offer them free t-shirts and mugs, and they'll be yours for life.

To use a trite forum cliché, this is right out of the playbook.

EDIT: Plus, I'm not carrying a logic analyzer on the plane.  Can you imagine getting that through security, even at SFO?

Oh FFS, really?  See, this is the kind of shit that makes me not want to even bother at all.

There is, literally, no pleasing people.  In the future, when someone asks "Why doesn't BFL provide YYYY information/pictures/stats/specs/etc?", point them back to this thread.  No matter what we provide or do, tinfoil hat people will try to drag it down.  There's still people that don't believe the FPGAs exist, I guess it should come as no surprise that no amount of proof will ever be sufficient for some people.

If you're searching these lines for a point, you've probably missed it.  There was never anything there in the first place.

You are right Inaba, where there are so many people must be all kind of persons:

-incredulous, even if goes to your facilities and see all working, will think all is fake, cardboard walls, workers are figurants,  seeing the PC screen showing a 3.5 Gh/s device running, he will follow  the cable that connects it to PC, (maybe this is a recording or a hacked version of bfgminer?).
-credulous, i've been scammed by pirateat40 and I believe him when said lies once and again, I think he will pay the october 12 as he recently said

You can't satisfy eveyone. Use a math formula like when you make a mean, discard 5% of trolls and 5% os asskissers and take the 90% rest.

Josh,

Don't let Reeses ruin this for the other 99.7% of the forumers that have an open mind, and simply desire information regarding BFL ASICs.

There is a hunger for a "peak behind the curtain", so to speak, and your idea to have a couple trusted members evaluate the product and BFL operations is a sound idea despite Reeses objections.

I am a trusted trader!  Ask Inaba, Luo Demin, Vanderbleek, Sannyasi, Episking, Miner99er, Isepick, Amazingrando, Cablez, ColdHardMetal, Dextryn, MB300sd, Robocoder, gnar1ta$ and many others!
