I have taken in a few PayPal sales, if you'd rather go that route.

Also, it looks like Luke-Jr's Compac has arrived and he's working on BFG code for it. Novak's also been working on cgminer code, and took one of the test sticks home with him to keep working. So that's good news.

Sales queue count is updated. I have one invoice still out which would put us over 300 sticks sold, which I'm okay with.

How many folks were turned away because they had to use coin instead of PayPal? I didn't realize it would be a problem but now the subject's been breached I've had two or three people in the last day asking about it.

Also, Bitmain just announced their new chip. I guess this makes the Compac obsolete before it ever shipped?

Or does it mean I should design a new Compac? Honestly I doubt much would change from the current design. Core voltage range would drop but that's a couple resistors; footprint would change but that doesn't take long. I bet the protocol is relatively unchanged.

Meh. Restricting how people can pay you for your product, barring some exceptional circumstances, e.g., a check to pay for a gift card, never makes much sense.

I'm definitely hoping I can get chips. Surely we can get chips from someone.
For the record, I care not at all for smartphones in general and iPhones in particular. Bitmain's new chip does appear to be a substantial upgrade from the previous. Any changes in footprint will not be unexpected, and it's actually really nice when manufacturers stick to the same protocol in successive generations because it makes interfacing and coding a heck of a lot easier. I'd much rather have $500 worth of BM1385 than a $500 phone, no matter how much better than my current cellular device (which I paid $40 for in September 2008) it is. Screw Apple and their obscene profit margins and their dependence on slave labor anyways.

Also, I've had at least three completed Compac purchases to date where the customer specifically requested PayPal rather than coin. I figured keeping stuff in coin and all pointed at the public Burger address with signed messages would keep things both transparent and verifiable for everyone involved, where PayPal very much does not. I also only lose 1% to the exchange instead of 3% to the processor. But if folks want to buy with PayPal I'm not opposed to that.

Please consider "rounding up". If you buy two or three or 100, please consider paying for one extra and not taking delivery, especially via PayPal.

Great idea, I do the same thing on PP whenever I deal with a friend or a business I support regularly.  I appreciate them giving us the option of PayPal, and to that extent try to make it impact their business as little as possible.  I've added 5% to credit card transactions in the past as well, to cover the 3% fees charged to retailers by card issuers.

Valkir - no update on shipping. I need to find out where my heatsinks are, but everything else is inbound or already arrived. I'll be working probably Thursday through Tuesday getting sticks assembled, ironing out testing procedures and such to start shipping as many as I can on the 25th.

It IS being exchanged for goods and services. It supports your work, and as money is fungible, even if you use it for burgers or some horrific sandwich it leaves more in the way of other resources. I value your work more than I value x amount of money in support. Voluntary exchange, both parties benefit. "Profit," much to the chagrin of those that love simple economics when they like the outcome yet deny simple economics when they don't, is nearly infinite in its scope and has never been solely limited to currency.

There may be better folks in this forum, and in the world at large. My statements do not preclude that fact, and I qualified it accurately. I know for certain that there are folks here that are orders of magnitude worse, as well.

Give me as much money as you want, I guess; I can't really stop you. But you can't really stop me from shipping you an equivalent value in hardware. You don't want it, just give it away or something.

Also, it looks like we've crossed 300 sticks sold. That's good. Four of the last seven orders were run through PayPal.

I might work up a conceptual BM1385 Compac if we can get any sample chips, but "quick to market" seems a bit unlikely. I couldn't afford to put one out until I've sold all the existing Compacs, and even then it'd take over a month to get made. But yeah it would be pretty sexy to have. I think I could put two BM1385 on it and draw about the same power at 60GH as the Compac does at TheRealSteve's blazing 23GH.

I'm pretty sure that ROI is not possible with a stick miner in today's environment.  You would need several to even hit the dust threshold on most (all?) pools.

I'm pretty sure that ROI is not possible with a stick miner in today's environment.  You would need several to even hit the dust threshold on most (all?) pools.

That's what I figured, but I have been out of the loop for a few months.
