Hey all! In my sig is the mother thread for this book in digital format, but I thought I'd make a separate thread for the print book! Print copy now in stock, available for payment in bitcoin! 0.04948BTC This book talks about all you need to know to get started making your own novelty and physical crypto coins! I use the examples from my own projects and also detail all of my own workflows and tricks for creating a cool product Comes in at around 70 pages, broken into chapters taking the reader from the initial idea generation through to design and choosing materials, talking with manufacturers and many other elements which make up creating your own physical coin! Blurb:This is a comprehensive guide to designing and manufacturing coins, medals and bars. It details the processes and workflows used to create designs, come up with ideas, explore potential uses and establish a look and feel to your creation. Sharing the techniques used by the author to create successful products, demonstrating that it is possible to create great coins with any level of artistic ability. The book covers the manufacturing process and the type of materials you might choose, it takes the reader through the collaboration process that is often undertaken with a manufacturer and goes into what to expect depending on where in the world you are based or where you choose to source you product. Contained within are chapters which touch upon the many different applications that are at a coin creator's disposal when undertaking a project. The book gives the reader everything they need to get started on their own products or hobby projects, finally giving an example project. Or alternatively message me for a PDF copy and see the link in my sig for the thread dedicated to the digital copy [/size] Thanks for reading!

I just want to vouch for this book.
I have read it and found it very interesting. I think any physical cryptocoin collector should read it to get an insight on the process behind making custom minted coins.
If you are considering to produce your own coin then can this book save you some time since you can draw on bigtimespaghetti experience. He focus a lot on how to get from idea to finished product.
I got the pdf version directly at bigtimespaghetti at a very reasonable price.

Thanks TookDk! Thanks again for the great feedback. I tried to make it concise without too much waffle- the original document was a little larger, but with help from my lovely editor I feel it gets to the point of the important things

I've read this book more than once and it has a great viewpoint from bigtimespaghetti on the programs he used to create his designs. If you can already do CAD/Graphics work yourself, you will be glad there is a breakdown of a couple design applications which some may not be currently taking advantage of.

@bigtimespaghetti Will you ever make a funded coin, with private key and hologram? I think lower denominations like 0.1, 0.05 or 0.01 would work great with your coins Surely people trust you enough to issue coins with private keys and with lower denominations is the risk low.

Actually, something very similar to this is an idea I have for another project. I will have to check money transmission laws though- I'm not sure that I could sell funded coins to the US for example.

Oh sounds interesting. Seams like there is a hole in the US FED legislation. If the buyer transfer the funds directly to the coin before shipping, then would you technically not be transmitting money. The producer can just verify the balance before shipping out and e.g. issuing a COA - which should not give legal problems (I am no legal expect on the field though).

I think you get round it by creating the private key and funding it once the buyer receives the coin. I'm sure a little searching will find the answer for me.

From reading this book: - He doesn't dive too deep into cryptocoins.
- Just information about his mtgox token and unobtanium bar.
- Brief information about Crypto Wallets.
- It is more of a guide to making a coin in general, sketching, modeling, minting, etc.
- There are links(pdf version) to external sources to help produce extra things (holograms and other stuff).
Overall a helpful guide into diving into a deeper knowledge of how to create your own coins. As well as more information on how to create and make a product from ideas. Hope that helps Og.

Hi Og, ezeminer has a good overview in the above post. I only use my own coins as examples in the book.

Hey, here is my honest review. I bought the virtual copy a couple weeks ago, but it is quite long, and I read it bit-by-bit. (it is indeed quite lengthy).
I will start off with the content itself. I can give it a 10/10. I don't know bigtimespaghetti personally, nor have I talked to him, but as far as I know he wrote this whole eBook himself. In my opinion I'd have not been able to tell if this was written by an individual or a big Bitcoin company. It really does go into depth. It teaches you *everything* you'd think of. Meaning, if you have a question about how to do this or that, it's probably already answered. I think Johnathan perfectly balanced details with quality. Well done on this section.
Let's move on to practicality. This gets an 8.5/10 rating from me. I was always curious to how coins can be made, and I was interested in possibly making my own as an individual. I think this book is great for anyone who has the time and effort, as well as investments required. It's not as easy as I thought it'd be. Everything is written as if an individual were reading it and able to do it him/herself. Very understandable and easy to read.
And finally, price and value. I give this an 8/10. Why not 10/10 you may ask? Compared to the content, cool, yeah you can tell the author put in good effort. Compared to what you're really getting out of it, I thought that soon enough this will be common knowledge, and it's only so much time until parts of it get leaked and such. In my 100% honest opinion, I'd say you should pay the full buck for this only if you're serious about it, and not just curious to how they're made.
Overall a decent purchase. I don't see why more people purchase this eBook. I think it's a great purchase whether you're aiming big or small. You're learning from someone experienced, rather than playing around and trying yourself. If you have enough, go ahead and get a copy for yourself. You get exactly what you pay for.
