As far as I remember that was discussed before (having the coin creators sign the books). It may be in this thread or in an earlier one.
You're entitled to your views on the coins but I think even just getting Mike alone to sign 20 books or so would be quite difficult.
He may not necessarily want to and even if he did, how would shipping work from there?
I guess if you buy one you could always send it to Mike with a prepaid return envelope and ask him to sign your copy.

With regards to a Casascius only book, the original eBook only talks about Casacius. Creating a new one in paperback on Casascius may not be successful as even with all these other coin manufacturers there doesn't seem to be enough people who are willing to pay for one.

After some deliberation, I have changed plans slightly.

As of now, I do not intend to post the entire book on-line for free.

I will be selling a small batch of pre-ordered physical copies, and some time after publication, I will offer the eBook version on Amazon and potentially other sites including my own (www.coinfirm.org). I have not yet determined the price at which these will sell. The book will have its own ISBN number, and be in all ways a legitimate, self published work.

Also, I will be cutting out 'ads' from the book. No more ads; this is a professional, specialized publication and not some magazine. If you would like to be a big-ticket sponsor, contact me as I may be able to offer a sponsorship to one single company.

I will, however be adding a coin information source and gallery to my website, but this will not come any-time soon. The reason for this change is twofold. Firstly, a website is a better medium to present the information. As a literary snob, I second the idea that all authors need an editor. As an example, I remember reading letters written between Mark Twain and his publisher. In one letter regarding Twain's first draft of Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the publisher gently reminds Twain that the girl's name (which first appeared in Twain's mega-hit The Adventures of Tom Sawyer) is Becky, not Betty.

I'm honestly baffled by how many books come out with errors. Even the Harry Potter books come riddled with various issues. Major newspapers are now error-ridden, and even sites/magazines like Forbes. It's almost like writing properly is a thing of the past, and people just throw things down on paper and skip editing altogether to save money.

That said, I've actually heard similar stories about multiple major authors. An interesting thing about Stephen King is that he only goes through one draft of his books (no rough draft) and has no editor. Even so, I've yet to find any issues with his writing (though I also don't heavily read his books, so it's just spurts here and there).

I am exploring the idea of taking an academic approach to the book, using the information in it to explain not only what has been created, but how the creations relate to the philosophies, ideals, politics, and other diverse 'values' that are at the core of bitcoin, and how events such as price swings, government actions, and exchange shut-downs are reflected in the coins. I dont fully guarantee that this will be the final form, but what I can promise is quality over speed of completion, and a very interesting read. Ofcourse, the majority of pages will be devoted to the coins in the same way as my 1st book on Casascius. It may be that I will increase the page-count even further.

I have even considered academic publishing, but the truth is that such things can take a year from submission to publication, so the current intention is to self-publish as I have no interest in waiting (or making any of you wait...) for that long.

Ahh, I thought it was pretty much ready to go, . Academic publishing is one of the hardest things to get into -- there's a lot of politics surrounding it and it's more of a "who you know" than a "what you know" deal.

In any case, when you're ready to roll and are prepared for the final stages, definitely get in touch with me and we'll see if we can work something out on the editing side. To put it into perspective, I put the editors at Forbes, Fox, CNN, MSN, etc. to shame (it's amazing the basics they skip over, and it leads me to believe there's actually no editorial process at any of the major outlets anymore).

Going this route would make your site something people can rely on for mostly up to date and accurate info (assuming you stay on top of it - good luck!) and would it make the source for a broad overview of coins available. Making your site something collectors can rely on for being comprehensive and accurate should be priority #1, imo. Anyway, just an idea - best of luck.

EXCITING NEWS!

I'de like to formally introduce Matthew Rippon , known as m_rippon on these forums

He is a Department Member of the Queens University of London, and is co-authoring this book.

Mr. Rippon has gained a great interest in the physical crypto coin phenomenon, and contacted me to conduct an interview for an article he was writing for the International Journal of Entrepreneurship and Innovation. I have since had many discussions with him about the subject, to the point that he accepted my invitation to co-author the book which is an extension of my first work; The Casascius Guide.

As an up and coming academic, he has been conducting a thorough analysis of everything involving physical crypto coins, and will no doubt be asking many questions. With Matthew's, the book is being transformed from a simple catalogue to an intriguing work analysing the ideas, values, culture, and community behind the physical crypto coin phenomena and forming various theories about it. This will make it the first academic work analysing this area; with virtually all research publications about Bitcoin being technical.

We will be posting regular updates about progress and some sneak peeks at the ideas we are exploring.

Mr. Rippon has a PhD in Geography, a Masters of Science degree in Globalization & Development, a Master of Art degree in Asian Studies, and a Bachelors degree in International History. I'm sure everyone will find Matthew both an excellent researcher and writer.

The book will comprise of three sections: an Introduction (which I will write), the Catalogue (written by Elias), and a Conclusion (written by me).

The bulk of the book will be the Catalogue. It will be replete with descriptions of the coins, photographs, details about the producer, and intriguing anecdotes. The Introduction provides a context to the catalogue while the Conclusion will explore some of the common themes inherent in the production of physical bitcoin.

It is, indeed, generous of Elias to refer to me as a "co-author" although I suspect I will provide 15% of the content at most.

I consider my audience to be the "intelligent layperson". I do not write in a jargon-laden and obscure style. My intention is to be scholarly and rigorous yet accessible and engaging.

I've been interested in Bitcoin since mid-2012. I attended the London Bitcoin https://sites.google.com/a/bitcoin2012.com/homepage/speakers conference in September of that year. In terms of physical bitcoin, in the last two months, I have spoken with Denarium, HardBTC, Lealana, Microsoul, TGBEX and, of course, Elias. My goal is to speak with all the main producers.

I've also read Jonathan Frammingham's fascinating Coin Making Guide: From Sketch to Strike https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1089977

I have researched into the major players in the industry, the aspects of a coin which make it valuable (precious metal content, serial number, number in batch, rarity, and grade rating) and the regulatory environment (e.g. FinCEN, MSB, money transmitters). In doing so, I've learned about a number of essential industries such as the graders (e.g. ANACS), mints, and hologram manufacturers.

Currently, I own two coins. A Denarium 0.1 BTC (2015) and a Microsoul Silver 0.01 BTC (2014) which arrived today (thanks Matthew!) Smoothie has kindly sent me two brass coins which I look forward to receiving.

I agree that we have to 'freeze' the research at a designated date. Elias and I have spoken about this. We have no plans to obsess over whether we have included every coin from every producer. Our view is that this is an ever-changing industry. There can, as you note, always be a second edition. The key, of course, is to publish the first edition! This will happen - soon!

Alot of coins haven't been graded at all, and others only once or twice so it is a stretch to give the 'highest grade' the same respect as for a casascius coin. With that said, I will certainly look to include that info whenever possible.

The book will be completed, printed, and sent out in 2015. Full stop.

However, it is important for everyone to realize that writing a 200 page book is no easy task, especially when it is not something that full-time can be devoted to, and especially when it is of an academic nature. We will absolutely focus on Quality over speed. Producing good, quality work is not something that can be done as a summer side-project. We will not be sending out an error-ridden and incomplete work in any circumstance.

That said, the aim is to have 90% of text written by mid September, with some time to sort out photos, formatting, editing, and citations. Objective is to have the final copy sent out for printing by the end of October.

An issue that needs addressing is photos. What photos can be used, and what if the owners of photos aren't responsive or cooperative? I obviously I don't want to get sued for using the wrong photos, though I want to provide the best available photos of every coin. with so many coins, defunct mints, and many available photos, its quite the logistical exercise.

Take Antana Coins http://antanacoins.com/ ; would you want one full color page for each of them? Very innovative coins, but I simply don't have 10+ pages of material to write about them. Such a 'database' would be more appropriate in a web format; which is in the plans for my website www.coinfirm.org sometime in the future.

That said, I'll make every attempt to talk about every notable manufacturer & mass-produced coins. Small batches will certainly get attention as well. As for individual prototypes; it would be a case-by-case. point is; if it is interesting and relevant to the big picture, I believe it belongs in the book. 

Each page of the catalogue section will likely have 1 or 2 coin 'profiles' (depending on how much I have to say) including photos, info about mintage, material, denomination, etc. and also a text portion which will include analysis or info about the things such as the art, its manufacturing process, any interesting anecdotes or observations relating to that coin in any way including history. It may also compare features to other coins and point out what other coins it seems to be inspired by from a design aspect. This isn't an exhaustive list, there's lots of things that could be written.

I'll also have individual pages for 'crypto mints'; established manufacturers who have created several coins. I will discuss the history, ideas, and inspiration of the manufacturer and compare them to others. I may include interesting facts, personality, the 'why', and other observations and thoughts.

I've just received twelve pages from Elias about Lealana. Three pages of detailed information about the company and its coins followed by nine pages about nine coins. There are photographs of the front and back of each coin. There is a table which depicts the mintage of different styles of each coin, the material, weight, and grade (if any). Each page provides data about the coin and reveals any unusual or intriguing features such as the lack of a "pit" for some of the 10 LTC silver coins (2013).

It's impressive work. I'll be reading it tonight and letting Elias know my thoughts.

Possum, Not sure what you mean by not expanding beyond.. 25 was the stated minimum, but I'm willing to take up to 75 additional orders if they come .

You are a little too optimistic . I have submitted drafts to a few, and had the chance to correct a few things.
Right now I have Lealana, Cryptolator, Crypto Imperator, Microsoul, Titan, SerpCoin, and bhCoin almost fully complete, minus some formatting. I haven't sent the drafts to most of these yet. This weekend I'm working on NolaCoin, Coinographic, and Nasty Mining.
The good news is that most of the biggest manufacturer sections are done, which are by far the most complex.
Some of the remaining 'big fish' are Silver Wallets, Alitin Mint, TGBEX, Finite By Design, Denarium, etc.
Then there is a gaggle of smaller manufactures and one-offs that I need to deal with; luckily those are not as difficult to do.
Hope this gives a good picture of where things stand right now

The color Scheme has not yet been settled, but you can expect this type of format.
The image you see is the level of completion at which 70% of the book is at this point.

Note that this format is one of two 'base' formats for the catalouge portion, and is used primarily in cases where there is a good photo available and alot of text is not required. When space for text is the priority, the photos are both side by side at the top, but much larger than in the original Casascius book. A third format is one which includes two coin listings on a single page. These formats do vary, but are based on the three main templates.

I have another 30-40 pages to put together, and revamp the Casascius section.
End result will likely be ~250 pages.

One difficulty is the naming. I have taken to naming the coins in a rather generic way, such as '1BTC Brass Coin, 2015', tied to the manufacturer. If multiple coins that would have the same name are made by the same manufacturer in the same year, I've used 'v1, v2' to differentiate. I have also used 'names' of the coins (nicknames or given by manufacturers) in quotation marks after the more 'formal' categorization name.
Perhaps this one will look like this:

Arent there 3 kinds on Lealana that woulnt be entirely distinguishable from the PF and BF ?

Antique Bronze Coin, 2014 'Node 2.4'

The coin in question is the "Node Bronze", Series 2.3

The date on the coin is 2014, but it was not released until 2015.

To be quite honest the naming and years are among the most difficult, especially determining between the year on the coin and the 'release' date. Ideally the 'year' of a coin should always be listed as the release date, regardless of what the coin itself says. It is quite likely that there will be some errors in that area.

Naming is the second question I haven't quite finalized. I will be working with Bithalo to formulate 'official' names (a sort of naming convention according to which all coins can be accurately named) for all coins according to a standardized format. This will likely put 'manufacturer-assigned names' or 'nicknames' is quotes at the end of the assigned name that is meant for categorization purposes.

There is a simple solution: list the composition of the coin separately (not in the name). Listing Antique Bronze as the metal is actually incorrect; it is a brass (85% copper; 15% zinc) coin with an "antique bronze" finish. Bronze is typically copper and tin.

The series is 2.3; the website has not been updated, but the bitcointalk reference page in my signature is pretty much up to date.

Ok then don't use it in your book; it's your book after all (I mean you can refer to a coin as Shittyhead fuckface Version 1 if you want! It's your book!) However, the fact of the matter is my reference page and website will be the official reference for all of my coins. I've put together a large amount of info on the thread and website and will be expanding/cleaning it up after the release of my newest design.

I'm not sure I have explained this before, but I use series as an alternate name for the coin. For example the "Node Bronze AT" Series 2.3.1 is broken down as follows:

2 represents the design (the first design "satoshi" is "1" and my next design will be "3")
3 represents the metal/finish
1 represents any special variations (in this case the artifical toning; or in the case of the Node L.E. the special serialized numbers)

The numbers are sequential based on release date.

In my research, I tried to refer to the maker's announcement or selling threads / website and used whatever they called it.  I also looked for their own explanation of metals, sizes, weights, mintages, etc.  

My preference is to use the naming convention of what each coin is officially called by their maker.

So for example, I may suggest something like the mint name, name of coin, denomination, material if it differentiates vs other coins offered:

Ravenbit Series 2.3 Node Bronze  - I earlier had the word 'Antique'...my mistake
Cryptolator Unchained 1BTC Silver
Crypto Imperator 10,000 Doge

then after, add other properties (type of physical, year, funding type) as needed, if desired.

I'll probably need to do another once-over to ensure I've got the naming correct.

I went through all the websites and maker' s Bitcointalk forum coin announcements again to use the naming that each maker used.   I also reviewed all the specs for the coins again and took the rest of the photos today.  Sending this over to elianite so we can review it all.

About a week behind schedule (I went on vacation   ), but progressing well.

Current status:
- Only one more major producer to add. Need to add text to about 6-8 pages of more obscure producers. maybe 15 total pages need some significant work
- Casascius Section ALMOST DONE
- Final edits being made on Matthew's academic section today
- Cover still needs to be done, and the other things below that in the above list^.

Latest page estimates:
Academic section: ~16 pages
Encyclopedia section (coins and mint bios): ~200-205
Other sections include Glossary, Special Thanks, Counterfeits & Imitations, Citations / References, Author Bios, and more
It's fair to say we will come out in the ~240 page range

There are some rather obscure coins that have almost no data available for them. In these few cases, I might leave them out as to avoid writing something of very low quality, along with low quality photos. Thoughts?

Sure thing. This page is an example where two coins are depicted on a page.
The changes have made the design very clean and simple. i havve not yet decided what colors should be on the pages, so it is just white with grey tables for now. I did note that the bottom right photo is a little off-format; that will all be fixed. As for naming, I am using mainly the names provided by the manufacturer. Please also ignore the small '27ozt' and 'copper'; looks like they were mixed up in the formatting. That will all be fixed as the pages are checked against my database.

Good question. I did some reading on the subject:

"According to the definition of edition above, a book printed today, by the same publisher, and from the same type as when it was first published, is still the first edition of that book to a bibliographer. However, book collectors generally use the term first edition to mean specifically the first print run of the first edition (aka "first edition, first impression"). As this is a sort of advance offering, I think that the definition we are working with is that of the 'first run'.
It would be problematic for me to write '1st Edition' on the cover for two reasons. First, it would be misleading in that it is one of many books. Second, It may need its own ISBN number, which is easier said than done. I will be printing through the distributor company, which means that any book that I have printed via them would also need to be offered for sale by them. Obviously, I want to limit the '1st Edition' to 100. Assuming things go to plan, the book will be offered for sale through a distributor sometime in the future, though those would obviously not be signed or be the '1st printing'.

I think the best approach is for me to print up to 100 copies for myself, which I will then number, sign, and ship. I can use a stamp, and possibly a sticker on the front saying something like 'Special First Edition - Numbered".

Interesting idea.  The book itself becomes a paper wallet.  I imagine to save cost it would have to be a generic holo as I doubt Elianite wants to incur added expense of a custom holo, and we don't wish to add delays to the project.  But I'll let him decide if it's something worth doing.

The benefit is that it makes a printed bound version more special than a pdf which wouldn't have the physical wallet attached.

Unsure a maker of assembled coins would want their holo stickers out in the wild. Blazed / Silver Wallets is a good shout, as the silver wallets are issued DIY, and the stickers are available as separates already.

Here is an idea: perhaps some manufacturer is willing to donate 100 (+10% for errors) holograms. These could already have the private key added, with the 'completed' sticker stuck to a'sticker paper' from which I can pull it off and place it directly on the book. This would be free advertising for you, as it would bring publicity to your brand.

At this point, getting this done is starting to be the biggest priority. There is a photo of a Bitbill and an explanation of paper wallets and their significance. I dont want to keep people waiting; I personally would be getting impatient around this point if I had pre-ordered a long time ago. We are almost done. Its mostly formatting right now.

These were emptied by the original owner, just before I bought the redeemed sheet, so in theory I could probably share an undocdtored image .... I dont have the wallet to hand though, to take a new one (that image was sent by the seller prior to me buying it, and them sweeping the wallets)

I have a generic signed pdf doc from Mike (that I assume was originally intended to accompany the paper wallet ... unsure if he changed it slightly though), dated and signed in June 2011. I am not posting the file, as there is perhaps some detail in there, that I am guessing with hindsight, Mike wished he hadnt shared. There is an image of Mikes fingerprint, and the text in the PDF is as follows

Like I say, I am not sure that was ever utilised or not.


As these keys are not under a security hologram, its unlikely that any sales would happen with unredeemed cas paper wallets. I have only ever seen one of these available for sale (redeemed or unredeemed), and consider myself very lucky to have added it to my collection. Its a very interesting insight into the evolution into the casascius coins. Its clear that the wallets were potentially around from June 2011 (from the signed PDF). The wallet I have was dated 10th September 2011, and looks like it possibly used the cas error hologram rather than Mikes fingerprint (the first cas error coins were first funded on 7th September 2011) .... so perhaps there are also some older cas wallets with the finger prints instead of the holo .... I just dont know

You'll note from the sequence numbers on my doc - 4139 upto 4147 - that potentially many were made .... assuming numbering started at 1..... I am doubting this as surely there would be more floating in the market. Each of the wallet addresses on this one was for 1 BTC. Unsure if that was standard or not.

I would be very interested to hear from anyone who knows about the 'finger print cas paper wallets', or better still has one for sale.

I don't know where I would even begin in calculating an estimation. The research, writing, formatting, re-formatting, fine-tuning, photos, photo credits, editing, proofreading, order processing.
Lets just say its way more then I expected... hundreds upon hundreds of hours.

I do not believe I will continue to sell books directly after the 'first print' batch has sold, though I might if it makes sense (additional books I sell would not be numbered or have holograms).

A few clarifications:

Since I am leaving to South Africa for work in 3 weeks, I will be sending all books forward before leaving. that means that the 'First Print' books will be sent to buyers directly, and I will send the 'Signature Edition' books to the UK for Matthew to sign. That means that the 'First Print' and the 'Signature Edition' cannot be shipped together. The 'First Print' will ship from Canada, and the 'Signature Edition' will ship from the USA.
Since there are no shipping savings, there would not be a discount for ordering a Signature Edition if you already have another pre-order. That said, A discount is certainly available if you would like more than one Signature Edition book.

Regarding numbering preferences, I would like your feedback!
One concern was that people might be upset if they are unable to 'convert' their low numbers, for example if they reserved #10 'First Print' but didn't want to buy one of each.

Option 1: Specific numbers can be designated as 'Signature Edition', so for example if you have already reserved #25 and #26, you could 'convert' the #25 into a Signature Edition. With this scheme, the numbers that have signatures would appear random, HOWEVER, they could also be numbered seperately., As in, they could have a 'First Print' serial number (out of 100), AND a different 'Signature Edition' Serial number (out of, say, 25).

Option 2: Another method by which this could be done is to simply designate 75-100 of the First-Print as 'Signature Edition' books. The downside here is that it would not be possible to 'convert' what you have already ordered, unless you give up the serial number you got before.

What are your preferences?

Let people with low number decide in order if they want to convert and then just move up the list....

That would mean Canada > USA > UK. This would be problematic to USA buyers, as they would still need to be returned from the UK. It's easiest to ship all the Signature Editions to UK first, than USA, and from there to the buyers.

Yeah, I think that makes sense. However, when it comes to rarity they could be weird (e.g. 1 very low number combined with a very high one, or vice versa). Regardless, I think that you've chosen the best option.

In my opinion, the most important are being a physical wallet and the more limited edition. Also the sign of Mike Caldwell is a great extra.

Thats also where I'm thinking of putting the holo for the signature edition.  A slick cover may make a holo too easy to remove.

Turns out the ink will not bond with the matte cover.
I decided to shorten the stamp, and and will now likely be stamping the SIDE of the book at the bottom, and using a 'sharpie' type marker to input the numbers.

The signature editions were only offered to people who had already prepaid and the rest were not going to be offered to the general public until 4/11, but because demand was much higher than 25 among the pre-buyers they sold out within a few hours. Maybe he could have limited it to one signature edition per buyer to give more people a chance though.

I had asked about a signed edition a long time ago on this thread before I volunteered for the project.  I later pushed for it again a couple months ago.  It took those few months to get confirmation if Mike C would sign these, since we felt it was very important.  It was literally the last minute figuring out the details on many things, if Mike would sign, how many he would sign, logistics, and if we were going to go ahead.  As such,  this edition wasn't guaranteed from the beginning.

I think we were all surprised by the level of interest, and didn't think it would sell out within 48 hrs.  Elias did email out a PM to those that pre-ordered to be able to upgrade, and offered it only to people who preordered the regular edition to be as fair as possible.   While in theory more books could be signed by the 3 authors and made wallets, Mike only agreed to a certain amount, so we're constrained by that amount, plus what we committed to as an edition size for the people who bought this.

As bithalo stated, we were constrained by the number of Signature Edition copies that we were able to make, and time was an issue. Considering there were ~50 individuals who had pre-ordered, and only 20 Signature Edition's up for grabs, I don't know if there would have been a way to make this much more 'fair'. I did limit the copies to only those who had pre-ordered, and made it a first-come, first-serve model among those people. only. Holding so many separate auctions would have been impractical.
That said, I have retained ~3 copies for myself, paired with low xx/100 numbers. My intent is to make these available by auction later on, so truly anyone has the chance to get one. I also auctioned off #25, which was mis-reserved on my end.

I have sent you a PM, and hope to work this out with you. Because of your unique situation which you mentioned, I have also offered to send you a digital version of the book for free once it becomes available, whether you cancel your order or not.

I am inclined to agree that it may have been a better approach. That said, it would have its own complications as I only record the number of the books reserved, not necessarily the order in which reservations happened.

Well, to prevent the spread of unauthed copies, you could watermark with the buyers full details. 
This would ensure that MOST of us wouldn't even consider giving it out. 
But, it would also just make someone buying it provide fake details.
So, it would not eliminate a spread.

As previously stated, the Signature Edition books will take longer. This is because they are not shipped by myself, but go through several people (Myself > Mike Caldwell > Howard Kesselman > Buyer). Instead of shipping the books to the UK for signing by Matthew Rippon (an extra month at minimum), high quality acid-free foil labels have been signed by Matthew which will be affixed onto the signature page.

Right now, they are in Mr. Caldwell (Casascius') possession, and he will forward them to Howard as soon as he has signed them.

As for international shipping, the book prices come with 'basic' shipping. This alone cost $15-$25 CAD per package on my end, largely because each book weighs above 500 grams. International shipping is probably cheaper from the US (from where the Signature Edition books will be shipped from). I will message all buyers regarding this before shipment is arranged, to ensure everyone has the opportunity for shipping upgrades if they desire.

Correct, I was not under the impression the PDF would be provided when pre-ordering the book and the PDF was a nice surprise to be able to view the TOC and general layout/imagery.  From previous posts I was under the impression I would be receiving my book this week, but since I upgraded to the collectors edition there will be an extra wait time.

Elianite is in Canada, bithalo is in US. Either way VAT would have been applicable when recieving into the EU, from one or the other ? Wouldnt have mattered if it was a single copy direct to end buyer, or bulk shipping to an EU distributor - VAT would be applied when coming in, at some point.

I am expecting it when recieving into the UK. Only potential saving grace would be a low value declared (like $40) to dip under the trigger

An eBook is a possibility later on, though it is not currently in the works due to the many projects I have ongoing.
What I potentially could do is offer an updated PDF (perhaps with the fixes the corrections that are being made for the hard-cover) and offer that PDF for direct sale through my site at a reasonable discount compared to the book, as there would be no printing or shipping costs.

I also wanted to mention that the one large label used for Matthew's signature in the Sig Edition was more cream colored than the white paperback page, so it stands out more. 

The new 1"x3" labels I purchased for the 26 coin maker autographs (to be used in the Autograph Edition), as well as the square holograms are much more white that blends in nicely with the pages.  This link to my thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1486405.msg15119801#msg15119801  shows that picture if anyone is curious.

Technically it could, but I didn't think it was a good idea in selling funded physical coins/wallets to US customers.  I didn't want to cause needless drama for US sales.  For the same reason why TGBEX and Satori dont sell pre-funded coins to the US, and Casascius, Lealana stopped selling seller-funded coins.

Of course, the buyer could pay for the funding like the Lealana model.

In essence, it is a teaser to this book. The aim is to introduce more people t physical bitcoin. It is engineered to get the reader hooked on the subject, but it does not even come close to what is provided in the paid book. Getting more people interested in our hobby is good fr everyone.

I think I will have to soon get your book as well. I was hoping for the new version (maybe in 2017) if you could make a cheaper paperback version available.
We are all collectors on here so spending $89 or less, with discount, for a book can be justified.
But I was thinking for regular folks and/or youngsters that are interested in BTC having a cheaper option may be great.
You know when you buy a book for someone for their Bday or Xmas or because they have left their day job to work on Crypto full time , your book could make a nice and welcome gift.

With this I'm not saying your book is too expensive at all, from what I heard it is actually well worth the price.
I think the numbers that have been printed make the price what it is and I'm not even so sure if you could print a new 2017 version of it in colour (that's where it costs) at a reasonable price like $20/30.

Another option could be, make the book available as an eBook on the Apple and Google stores and print high quality limited editions for the ones of us that like it printed.
I mean if the eBook sells well it could sell in the thousands which may offset all your other printing costs.
I'd make sure to promote the eBook everywhere I can and if others do the same it could be interesting to see the uptake.

You should contact minerjones for purchasing a new copy.  He should have a few AE hardcovers left.  I also have spare sets of labels that one could add to a regular hardcopy to make a similar item.  See my signature.

With regards to the next edition, we are discussing whether to make another a new version for 2017.  It depends on the demand.

I won’t be very involved in the project this time, however I did submit a list of the new coins to those involved to add since the last edition.  I believe it will mainly be handled by Habbear, krogo and minerjones.  Elianite can discuss as well.  I don’t have a timeline at this point.

The Encyclopedia covers all the coins made in detail..it will not tell if your coin is still loaded or not.
