Hi everybody. I'm currently working on getting a bitcoin broker business live in the UK. We are in the process of finalising the registration process at Companies House. I think the big hurdle is going to be finding a business bank account. I know UK banks in general are resistant and that other companies have had success with some of the banks in Eastern Europe (Coinbase, Coinfloor, Bitstamp etc) but I wondered if anyone had any new knowledge on avenues that might bear fruit? Keen to hear anything anyone might have to offer, thanks! Grin

I have several business accounts with Barclays and with one of them exchange bitcoin and have never had a problem (I've done it since 2013)

What type of business are you founding? Ltd ? Will you become a registered Money Services Business?

Visit Satoshi's Place, a Bitcoin Hub based in Bury, Manchester, UK.

I'd say that if he only uses a European-esque first name and opens a cryptocurrency exchange, his chances of success is practically guaranteed after he registers a domain name and slaps together some HTML code.

For banking you might want to look at Lloyds as they've already set out the way Bitcoin can be insured, so their banking department might be more up on accepting existing structures. Not necessarily, but it may be worth a look.

Part of it is finding a exchange that works with your bank.   You might ask in your community what others are doing.

Also I would suspect it depends on how much you do in BTC.  A very large business might be harder to do then one who takes small amount of btc.

i would love to set up an online business that accepts bitcoin as a payment option
more payment options = more sales
between CC payment and BTC, i'll go with BTC but i can accept both if ever i have a website set up

You can simply register with payment processor which accept BTC and pay the merchant in desired currency. BTC -> BTC is usually less fees however.

Lloyds of London are a separate entity to Lloyds Bank, so sadly I don't think so.
