Hello! I think you'll be excited to own this MS-67 2011 Casascius coin Series 1 Error coin.

Firstbits: 16RYc8e2

Loaded: 10/27/2011

ANACS Coin certification #4815841

https://blockexplorer.com/address/16RYc8e2SvFMzavvMb1xmZ24YHNbDeQgcb
https://blockchain.info/address/16RYc8e2SvFMzavvMb1xmZ24YHNbDeQgcb

You are probably aware that this is an incredibly rare coin. The only sales precedent I am aware of for this coin is SgtSpike getting 50 BTC for a similar coin. ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=256980.0 )

You can see the coin on the ANACS lookup database here: http://www.anacs.bounce.so/coins.php These are the same images I posted here. I'm truthfully not impressed with the quality of the ANACS images considering this is a nearly perfect coin. Obviously, a MS67 coin doesn't have blemishes that seem to appear in the pic.

I'll accept offers in the thread or on PM until August 5. I reserve the right to withdraw the coin or refuse any bid. Escrow is mandatory. I will provide proof of ownership (current pictures) to the winning bidder before payment. The coin is currently in secure storage and I don't plan to remove it unless the sale goes through.

I live in the Southeast US and will work with the buyer to arrange shipping at my expense.

Minimum offer is 40. Please spare both of us some agony by not making lowball offers.

I don't spend much time on bitcointalk (I'm still waiting for the forum upgrade), so please forgive me if I don't respond immediately... I will check several times a day.

Here's an imgur album containing recent pictures (taken 7/23/2015): http://imgur.com/a/DC49X

Wow!

This is the first time I've seen a coin like this up for sale in a long time. I can't offer though.

I wish you all the best!

Wow!Wow!Wow!
I've never seen an MS-67 on an early coin before and think that this is probably the first, but based on recent gradings, probably far from being the last.
Anyway, that's a sweet coin and a sweet grade.
I wouldn't even know where to begin to offer seeing as one of the Ultras (my name for Casascius fanatics) would come with a starting bid over the 5 BTC mark.
Anyway, I'll definitely be watching this. Good luck with the sale though!

Edit: Interesting how the coin got such a grade considering that it looks like a chunk is missing from the B!?

This is certainly a nice coin and the only one I've seen in this grade(so far). For brass, it's very good.

However, please spare us some agony and have a clue about the current market, especially noting the difference between the price of BTC in July 2013 when this was sold and now.  Back then 1BTC was around $90, and now it's over 3x that.

I'd estimate the market price should be about 6.5BTC for it, based on current BTC value as well as the fact that MS-66 versions command roughly 5BTC in today's market, and MS-65 can be had for under 4BTC  Granted a 67 for brass is very good, but grades have been coming back higher lately so this most likely will not soon be the only of its kind.

Edit: and you're right AT, I didn't originally notice the mark on the B.  Hopefully it's just a mark on the slab, but if its on the coin this should be a much lower grade, and my 66 should then be a 68...

You're right - I may have started the auction with an overzealous starting price.. My apologies about the "agony" comment. I'll remove the minimum of 40 and see where it goes. My price-history recollection isn't awesome. I imagined we were near $200 in July, 2013 when we were actually near $90.

There is no chunk missing from the B... I'm not sure why that picture looks so rough, especially considering it's an official ANACS pic. The coin is pristine. If some actual offers/bids turn up I'll pull it out of storage for a better look. I had 10 coins graded in the same batch and this is the highest grade with the poorest quality pic... go figure.

Glad to see you're coming back to reality OP.  You're 40B comment made me bust out laughing.

Nice coin but these days in the new Anacs grading era, it doesn't surprise me one bit.

Sorry - As I mentioned I don't hang out here often - I assumed bitcoin was the default currency here... at least, it used to be.

Don't worry man, some people are just earning their signature counts asking obvious, yet technically appropriate questions.

Is there a way you can get a picture of the coin, on an angle, so we can see what that mark on the BTC is? I realize the grading from ANACS is the "insurance policy" but more pictures will help your sale, gives people less to worry about, thus motivating more people to participate in the bidding (which magically increases the sale price!)

For reference, one of these coins graded MS65 by ANACS (who else?) is being offered for BTC6.54 on another auction site. I think you have your MS67 it priced to sell...people should get in on this great deal!

Yeah, I do think it's fair to give people enough information to be able to make a fair offer. I'll get the coin tomorrow and post additional pictures.

My signature is for my own business, not a signature campaign.

Is it wrong to point out something flawed in someone's post? No.

I get it all the time so if I can dish it I can take it.

Constructive criticism. Take it how you want.  Tongue

SgtSpikes coin was a Day 1 coin, aswell as being graded MS-67. That's why he got 50BTC for it, most likely a one of a kind.

I think plenty of people are interested in the coin, but your ask was too high. What is a realistic pice you would accept for this coin? If you are feeling brave auction it off with a starting bid of 1BTC and see where the market prices it at.

When you say "current bid is 7btc", do you mean that's the minimum bid, or someone has offered you 7btc? 'Cause I don't see an offer...

No longer buying/selling Casascius coins. Beware scammers.
