Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

It was a Slashdot article : It might have read this one, but it's unlikely that I have paid any attention : Bitcoin Releases Version 0.3 (July 2010) This article is when I most likely started taking interest in the subject : WikiLeaks, Money, and Ron Paul (December 2010) And this one I remember so well, I remember the first comment! Online-Only Currency BitCoin Reaches Dollar Parity (February 2011) In other words (Score:5, Funny) by Monkeedude1212 (1560403) on Thursday February 10, 2011 @03:01PM (#35164902) Journal

Share your experience with us. i am not completely sure about the exact first time that i heard about bitcoin , maybe it was in the news or some forum . but the first time that i officially knew about bitcoin was in the year 2013 when everybody were mining bitcoin with their expensive GPUs and earning like crazy especially because of the great price rise of 2013 but unfortunately i started with bitcoin late, in 2014, and i am using it everyday since then.

First heard about it from a Hacker News post. Even downloaded the client early on but didn't bother to read much about it - when the client started synchronizing and I saw it was taking a long time I uninstalled it. Stupid because it was probably early enough to still CPU mine with it.

The first time, the news. Some article from some website. It used to be impossible for me to talk about with people, but it's becoming an ever increasing easier conversation to have with people, with friends, with family, with coworkers...it's a beautiful thing.

First time I have heard about bitcoin it was when I joined a promising site about three years ago. It was difficulties at the beginning with the wallet to create and to understand what was but reading some things in internet and wikipedia I was fascinated by him. Since that days I am a good fan of bitcoin and always try to find ways to have some more than I have.

I saw it on the internet although disregarded it until it hit around $700, I then heard about Dogecoin from a friend and became interested in crypto.

2013, i was having fun of mining but the whole mining thing, unfortunately it has vanished...now i follow how bitcoin is doing every fucking day i watch its price because the price is its health
reading about good news only don't interest me anymore, i want to see the impact of their investment on the price otherwise what they said it's pointless, like i said the price is important

I heard about Bitcoin on one forum about making money online ( no longer interested in this, trolls ) and one new user posted something about bitcoin faucets ( they were giving freakin' big amounts compared to today's rates, but rate for USD was lower. I got high amount of BTC just from faucets and later from referrals, but then I gambled it all away
