You mentioned paying nothing or renew energy, soo why would someone with such potencial buy such thing that will allow to roi but wont get more then we could get with faucets or others ways to collect bitcoins?I doubt any big farm with huge low cost energy and solar will invest some bucks into those sticks instead a better equipment .

I suppose it depend on how big you're talking about. For actually big farms, they usually have sections of a specific miner since its easier to manage all the same miner than a bunch of different miners rag tagged together.

However for 100-300THs in someone's garage, whatever you get your hands on at good GH/$ would do. Me i'm even smaller than that so its easy for me to use different hardware but anything bigger than that. I can't imagine they would want to get small units or different units. Indeed.

But for solo mining, this is exactly what you should use.

This thread is awesome by the way.  So may people say its not worth it to solo mine. I just think they are impatient.  You dont make much mining in a pool anyways.  And the electricity you use is really minimal.

Why not draw a lotto ticket and see if you can win.

Iv been thinking about it and I may just do this.  As I do waste a load of money on the lottery anyways.  And coffee.   lol

Nice to see this still going Smiley Good luck for all who are still mining!
4 GHS and still going strong, best share so far is 744425, which isnt too bad on 2 usb miners. hoping to get my hands on a u3 sometimes soon

Nothing wrong with that! I've been stuck at 600k as a best share for days before. If I get stuck at a low best share for more than a few days I restart now and watch it climb from 1000 up. It probably doesn't help, but it makes me feel like I'm doing something  Grin

However for 100-300THs in someone's garage, ....

That's a ton of TH for a garage. I bet it's toasty in there!

Amen to the coffee bill.  Grin

And we all wonder why we have anxiety and heart issues, am I right? I say go for it. Most people quit after 2 weeks because when you're watching the machine it feels like two months. Just turn it on, let it ride, and think of it as a fun little project just like I did here.

As for Sparky, which is what we're calling my lucky little S3 as of today, his best share is only 54,505,143 after a grueling 5 day run in heavy heat. I'm making excuses for him but I'm going to restart his little butt tonight LOL! Nothing special to report yet I guess. Just chugging along...

Sure but then again, its your garage, so nothing prevents you from having the exhaust from the miners go straits outside, getting rid of absolutely all the heat, though not the noise ^_^".

If you keep it close, you would only need a couples of units to make it "toasty" thus unless its a cold winter, you better figure out a way to dump the heat regardless of how big your setup is.

Meanwhile 20 S7's is not that much. I just hope the construction is thick enough to block the sound from entering the rest of the house!

That's true. You'd have to be good at brickwork etc to plug up the hole when you move unless you vent it out underneath the rolling door. It's an interesting thought. I guess you could put glass in it and make a window!

Oh yeah way to much caffeine.   Lol

But yeah when I get some extra cash I plan on buying a few miners.  Not sure what I want or can afford yet.  But do want to solo mine.  What all can it hurt besides me being out a few dollars.

Def gonna do hopfully here soon.

Solo is currently like strategy game,at the moment ,with solar energy you can start your strategy investment. If you will be able to roi,yes you will but how long and how many days or weeks will last...i had almost bought a miner but i invested those and i own more bitcoin then if i were mining i suppose.

Coins are pretty cheap right now. I'd say buying is great at anything under $300 if you intend to buy and hold, or "hodl" as the kids say  Cheesy

Well now we can choose on the time of firsts miners who enter in the begining of th process had earned some bitcoins ,on the time of the 1000 dollars and above 500dollars people invested into equipment dreaming to roi in 2 months or less, and well too many bitcoin mined and price went down in a short time, now new bitcoiners can choose to buy them or to mine them as looks bitcoin is stable on the 200 mark and able to reach 300 .

Because of this thread I put one of my miners to work doing the old yolo solo. Just this morning actually.
Three chips aren't working right now....I suppose taking it apart and re-doing the thermal paste is an option?

No, that won't help for anything other than thermal conveyance.  I've had chips show as 'x' on my S3, I usually just power off the machine for a few minutes and fire it up again and they have always come back.

I'll try that out, I just purchased them used. Most are ok, there are a couple miners that show a couple x's a piece, nothing major I assume. How do I know if the chips are over heating? They all have temps of around 39C.

Not exactly a block, but it was a nice share just the same. I'm proud of my little Sparky!

Wow!  Congrats on hitting a block!  You've inspired me to switch my miners over to CK's solo pool, which are 2 S3s and an S1.  Happy solo mining!
