I started off with £100. Gave £20-ish to my friend to play with.
Then I discovered SatoshiDice. It seemed like I was never losing!

My £80 became £234!

Then later on I did more bets, and it's now 0.0002 BTC !

and now MT.GOX had their UK bank account closed so I can't fund Sad

Fix that title. It should read:

Psy is right. And I think that's the first time I've ever agreed with him.

LOL, yep, gambling is bad.

The combination of SatoshiDice, BitCoins, and blockchain.info's SatoshiDice page, is horrifically bad Cheesy

Actually, I still think it's really cool how it works, and it's good that the numbers are clear to see.

I just kept putting 3 in top box (73% chance) and 1 in the next box (48% chance).

The top box kept winning and cancelling out the loss of the second box, and when the second box did win, I was well up! We were laughing in the office and my mate kept saying "you're silly. it's bad", (while he was buying up graphics cards to mine with..), and I kept saying "watch.. look. it's gone down.. will it come back up, or stay down. IT'S UP!! LOOK!"

Meh.

So I have some more bitcoins now. I'm trying to stay away from toxins, so I suppose I should just hold them in the hope that the bitcoin economy deflates or something..

At some point it get to be like a drug addiction. The dopamine and adrenaline rushes you get initially start to diminish, and you keep chasing that high with higher and riskier bets. I had to lose around $50k before I realized what was up. The only thing you can really do is channel your tendencies into more productive things.

On Satoshidice?

Gambling is mostly a time killer.

I lose as much as I win, roughly, while occupying my mind with creative thinking in the background.

Ah, I miss those days. You stroll up to the slot machine, put in a hundred, win 50 then win another 20, maybe another 100, then next thing you know you're betting max and you lose it all...

Fun times... 'Till your girlfriend gets pissed that you just blew the rent money...

I lose as much as I win . . .
This is almost certainly not true.  It may seem like it for any small sample, but if you actually tracked all your bets, over a large number of bets you will most likely find that your total losses are a bit more than 1.9% of the total amount you have bet.

You also have to play methodically AND a whole bunch to lose that little over time. The real house advantage is that you're very likely to blow your wad before you can even get anywhere near breaking even.

If you are going to gamble you need to set a limit for win and a limit for loss and keep that limit every week or month.
Because you will allways lose at times and when you do, you must stop.
Otherwise you will gamble to regain your loss, which means there is no limit on how much you will lose.
If you cant stop it means you have an addiction.

Remember that when you gamble in the end you will lose.
Because you just will not stop as long as you are winning, the end will only be when you have lost.
Its math you cant beat it.
