Small 5 runs win of Pakistan over Kandy yesterday is loss of its own since, having set world record 176 runs first pairing between Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman, team has been officially kicked out in world cup. I agree that middle part, made up of Salman Ali Agha, failed completely in team by failing to score single run in last four overs which caused Sri Lanka bowlers to take 7 wickets at only 36 runs and have goal at 212 runs.
As we know first players were great, but smart fear of middle part destroyed chance to move on. Having given Dasun Shanaka chance to take Sri Lanka above 147 runs line in 16th over, Pakistan lost their Net Run Rate battle against New Zealand. Again, it was a match where Pakistan let the advantage slip from their hand. They could have easily ended up with a total of 240-250. When Fakhar Zaman and Sahibzada Farhan were at the crease, they were 176/0 after 15 overs. They could have easily added another 80-90 runs, given the fact that they had 10 wickets in hand. But for some reason, their batting collapsed completely in the next 5 overs, and they managed to add only 36 runs. It was again Pakistan doing Pakistan things. But this time there was no redemption, because it was crucial for them to get a 64-run win over Sri Lanka. They couldn't do that and now they are out of the tournament.

Pakistan International cricket team won the match by 5 runs and that was thrilling match because both teams played very well in this match. Dasun Shanaka played very well in this match and he played with strike rate of 245 in this match and he hit long long sixes to Shaheen Afridi. Usman Tariq gave more runs in this match and he could not take any wicket in this match . Rathnayake made half century in this match and he made partnership in this match when it was need of the team . There is no doubt that Pakistan missed this golden opportunity and now Pakistan squad will not be able to reach semi final. Their first two batters Fakhar Zaman and Sahibzada Farhan played their inning with full strength and total collected 183 scores but remaining 10 wickets displayed very bad inning and managed to collect just 30 scores in remaining overs. If target had been around 260 270 runs than Pakistan would have qualified for semi final. Today India squad has reached to semi final match and they defeated West Indies squad successfully.  Sanju Samson batter played amazing batting inning and he collected 97 scores off 50 deliveries. From bowling side, Jasprit Bumrah bowler also payed crucial role and he picked up 2 significant wickets.

It was a do or die match for Pakistan team so by playing first they scored 212 runs in 20 overs. I think they should increase 230 plus runs if middle order players played well. After losing the first wicket no one played sensible and responsible inning. They should won the match by 67 runs for semi final qualification but Shaheen afridi bowling was very poor and disappointed. It was important match so he should bowled sensible but could not. But Sri Lanka team appreciate able for this fight, they played very mature and sensible batting. After 5th wicket they performed very well if some balls remaining then they could win the match. But shame on the Pakistani team who faced the defeat very badly and kicked out from the tournament.

India got their semi final spot officially with tense 5 wicket win over West Indies and hit difficult goal of 196 with four balls left. My thought is that although  West Indies did good job but keeping in mind that they played in the wet weather in Kolkata, and they gave chance to India to find their best batting flow under pressure. India has since not only managed to fix their bad Net Run Rate but has also won two back to back must win games, which gives India new winning path into March 4 semi final against England, with huge mental speed behind them.

Apart from that loss against South Africa, India has performed well in this tournament so far. But I am a bit doubtful whether they can lift the trophy. Younger Indian batsmen are not as consistent as the senior players (like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma). The advantage for India is that they will play the final and semi-final at home, under helpful conditions. This should help them, as the other three teams are from SENA. But even SENA nations have got adjusted to the sub-continental conditions nowadays. England has a really strong spin-bowling line-up that includes Adil Rashid, Liam Dawson and Rehan Ahmed. Rachin Ravindra and Mitchell Santner have been good for the Kiwis, while the Proteas have Keshav Maharaj and George Linde.
