Wow.... This is really disappointing to have read all this.
I'm just now hating myself for being so naive.

That's probably more than 2 months on mining on this pool for me. Fml.

My first scam on the crypto scene. And boy my butt is sore.

Can someone take this pool off the Bitcoin wiki page.
U know they really should only put verified or trusted pool operators on the the wiki page.

I wouldn't of been suckered into this pool if that was the case.

Dammit I'm still cursing.

Its a shame...

I threw some hash at this in the beginning because I liked the website.    and just like solo mining ... you take a chance...

after awhile I quit because of trust issue... but was hoping that a block would be found and it would turn out to be a legitimate pool so i checked the website once in awhile to see if someone had found a block.

I only lost hash time for my miners,

I feel for the people that probably were buying hash power and its a shame that this did not work out.

Good call! Officially listed pools should be vetted more or at lease have paid out some people before being allowed on the page.

Or have a verified and trusted tag next to pools or something similar.

Done.
Should we make a page about this incident? No public pool operator that I know of has ran with the first block since 2011.

so why did nobody call SCAM from the beginning, I lost maybe 1 btc in expected earnings but a lot of noobs getting burned by this shit. just like altcoins...

We as community need to ackt up.
If there will be one place to scam on the internet it will be with btc.
Said to see this happening to my 1 btc earnings, but more if a new pool or someone with good intentions starting something we can't scream SCAM right away.

but unfortunately a lot of people will take advantage of this.

If the pool operator is a known person somebody should take action.
If somebody ID is being abusede please be carefully before action taken.

just my 2 penny's

lost 1 btc............ what's the next scam?

Well, it was tough to call this a scam at the beginning... the pool was running relatively smoothly... the operator was pretty active on the forums and was quick to respond to queries.  It wasn't until I found the block and the pool went dark that the scam was exposed for what it was.

That really is some crap.  I mined on there for about a month trying to help him get started.  I was planning on putting up a pool myself.    I agree that was the first scam pool i have seen.

I would say that would completely depend on where you live.  Good luck if the pool owner was in a 3rd world country.  If you were some where like the US that does have cyber crimes divisions of police then maybe.

Well... the guy did post that he was from New Zealand... and there was some pretty interesting research done a page or so ago in this thread that tied things together and supposedly identified him.

Not being from New Zealand myself, I don't have a clue about their cyber laws.

Thanks gecoxx22 for pointing that out.

I just dug around base on that link. Perhaps we could report him on http://www.consumeraffairs.govt.nz/scams/report-a-scam. Unfortunately, I am not New Zealand resident.

Ahh would not this be karma.  If I knew our 25 + 10 coin thief  was busted after he used the stolen coins to buy the dope it would be worth my small 6 or 7 usd loss here.

Yes, if so, I think the Police is getting the connections of that oxy guy.
For all who are able to read german, the link of the newspaper side:
http://www.rundschau-online.de/rhein-sieg/-sek-einsatz-insankt-augustin-sote,15185860,32709352.html
The background is not funny, because the terrorist of Paris had bought a gun from a seller oxywhite.
This is why they are now trying to get all person involved.
IF the Nexious guy is anyhow connected, well then .......

I do not want my mining helping bad people that hurt people they don't even know.
