Q&A

Q: Is there time limit?

A: According to the message of the manufacturer, later today, they very likely will be released the pre-order open time of the last batch. So this time will be our deadline.

According to the news from ngzhang, the second wave of pre-orders will be launch at 9:00am EDT, 10/03/2012. Therefor, this time -1 hour would be our deadline which is 8:00am EDT, 10/03/2012.

Q: Why do we use Bitcoin to vote?

A: As a more serious voting method. Because most people do not take their coin kidding.

Q: I voted but regret how to do?

A: Whether vote pass or not, it can be refund later.

Q: In case the vote did not pass it?

A: If the amount is less than 10 units mean did not pass. Full refund will be carried.

Q: How could I know the ASIC will be sent to the designated address?

A: The mailing address of each person's orders will only verified with the manufacturer, I personally do not intervene in this procedure. In other words, everyone's orders are direct payments to the manufacturer, I'm just as a representative of the group buying who responsible for initiating and contact with the manufacturer.

Q: How do I know the current number of orders?

A: You can checking the web page:

I don't understand (havn't had my coffee today). So for every 0.1BTC I send, means the group is buying 1 Avalon?

Exactly!
So I send you 0.2BTC, which means I want the group to buy 2 Avalons for me. But then who actually pays for them? I'm assuming me? If so, what's the point?

You will need to send your BTC address which you used to send 0.2BTC for confirm your orders after you sent them. Otherwise I might be difficult to identify which one is your orders.

Wouldn't a pooled escrow make more sense?

So let me see if I get this:
I send you 0.1BTC. 11 other people do the same, and the pool gets 1.2BTC. Then the pool orders 12 units. All 12 people place their BTC for purchasing the units in escrow, and then the escrow pays for the units (to ngzhang). Where do the 12 Avalons get shipped to? Who mines with them? Do I get my 1 unit mailed to me? If so, what's the point? If not, why would I want to do this?

Again, sorry if I'm really slow today, but I'm just not getting it. :/

I would assume that it's to get to the 30 unit mark that gets priority in the preorder line.

It's not really a Group Buy if the seller is asked to ship each order individually to each group member's address.  The point of giving priority or discounts to large orders is to sell more units with a lowered customer-service overhead.

What do you mean pooled escrow precisely?

All Avalons will ship to their buyers separately. You'll mine with your own Avalon.

I have posted a GLBSE mining project draft (Project-Pi) before. But this group buying is a separate independent project/event.

Not need for sorry! Your question will help it more clarifying.

What do you mean pooled escrow precisely?
Lets say 30 orders cost $40,800USD, which is 3317BTC. We create an escrow for that amount, and for each person that ordered an Avalon, they each deposit 110BTC. When we have our full amount, the escrow pays ngzhang. No offense, but I wouldn't feel comfortable sending you (or anyone else) >3000BTC without any proof you won't take the coins and run.

No offense been made. Your concerns can be understood. In addition, this is not an escrow related solution. You'll not need to send me 110BTC.

Why don't you guys simply wait for the last 100 avalons to be release for preorder?

My anger against what is wrong in the Bitcoin community is productive:
Bitcointa.lk - Replace "Bitcointalk.org" with "Bitcointa.lk" in this url to see how this page looks like on a proper forum (Announcement Thread)
Hashfast.org - Wiki for screwed customers

If he can get a group of 30, then that guarantees priority shipping and not having to fight everyone else for the last of the pre-orders?

Idk I still might just wait and do it solo. This seems all weird to me.
