There's a ton of things I use every day that I don't really pause to think about the nature of their inner workings too. Doesn't mean I don't appreciate it. People like end results. How they get there is down to cleverer people to tinker with.

Same with fiat money. You just use it every single day without even pausing to think how was it made and what are the other uses for it aside from buying / spending.

yup this can happen in like 20-30 years but not in 4-5 years, Bitcoin right now needs stability and if this thing can repeat for bitcoin, The world as a whole would have changed, But I think it will be much slower because internet did not challenge the banking system etc. So around 50-60 years is more like the time I see this can happen not any sooner.

I believe it's going about 2 times faster than the internet has developed. So 10-15 years might fit quite well imo.

even the greek have been trap by FIAT currency without notice the bitcoin "currency" escape plan ... so, project time for a monnetary switch is a little difficult considering the fact (dumb people).

It is may be going 2x faster but, it is challenging the system, Internet did not had to do this, Still many of people don't have access to internet, Education is still a problem, imo it will take much longer due to these reasons and we cant really see a full fiat free system in at least 80-100 years. We need to go through big changes, like how do farmers in india, Bangladesh, Pakistan etc and developing economies get bitcoin where they don't even have access to high speed internet.

Education will take time, many of developed countries can achieve it much earlier but we cant go fiat free no sooner than 100 years imo Smiley

No matter how optimistic we are it will still take time Smiley

It also shows how fast and easy they can adopt new technologies.
Today's grown ups find Bitcoin weird and totally strange. But their kids will react to videos on youtube explaining Bitcoin like the kids do here to internet 15-20 years ago.Think about this way.
Or like Andreas Antonopoulos said "try to explain a 16 year old why he/she has to wait 3 days for a wire transfer when it is allowed to open his/her first bank account and has already used Bitcoin for 6 years"

In ten years, kids will be amazed how we put up with syncing the blockchain, paying so much for a transaction (0.0001 will be astronomical in 10 years) and lastly, wait 10 minutes to 1 confirmation? What's a Mt Gox?  Cheesy

In 20 years kids will grow up with Bitcoin as the absolute normal thing and there will be nothing to explain, they will simply get it naturally, just like you dont have to explain them how to use the internet, they will just use it.

Its a crucial time for bitcoin development that determine its future in next years. But seems bitcoin is going to right way now instead of failed. If there were no bad news about bitcoin recently, I think bitcoin could grow more rapidly. I think in next 10 years, many kids will have a trezor to save their money, or paper wallet maybe  Cheesy

Young people dont want to understand anymore how stuff work. They jsut use it and dont care about how its work.
This is pretty sad.

Same thing about bitcoins in the future, you think kids will wanna know what the blockchain is and how transactions are verified etc? No, they will just care about using it and that's all I care about. Grin

Kids will go:
Whaaaaaaaaaaaa!? 10 minutes blocktime?!

Or Whaaaaa!? You had to manually copy paste addresses?

Whaaaa!? You had to encrypt your stuff to stay secure?

xD

Then we'll watch a version video of this in 20 years and we'll chuckle.

Completely agree.
Those kids are so addicted to having instant communication through the globe, instant access to informations, instant gaming online, they can't imagine reality as it was just 15 years ago.

The same will go for boys and girls that will be 20 in 2030: they will barely remember those paper banknotes, and will just be so addicted to go around with a cellphone and pay with it.
By the way... that cellphone could be like... 2 cubic centimeters by then, and implanted under skin or in a bracelet, projecting the screen mid air. We can't know it now. But I am pretty sure it won't be a slab like the ones we use today.

I am glad to say, my kids reaction was very positive. They started to experiment with it and bought things online and
when I introduced a few games to them, where they could win BTC, it spread like wildfire in their school. I think it was CoinFlapper or something.

The kids play head to head against each other for BTC and they are enjoying it. The kids are not interested in the technology, but the reward they get from it. Things like games and faucets are a valuable tool to get the message to them, in a way they want to understand it.

Thanks for that answer. That's it what I'm talking about. They get used to it pretty fast and the usecases for the internet are so big.Might it be for online games, or tipping, downloading games, music, videos etc.
And of course they have no clue about the tech behind it. And they don't have to know.
Ask the average joe how a car works. 95% have absolutely no clue. But they can drive it and know what it is good for.
