We have created a system, where neither ourselves nor NSA are able to read the user content.
https://chatlink.com

Short introduction video:

More details about technical solution:

Does anyone here think it is useful?

Is it open-sourced?

No idea if it is really useful before we can see the code really works.

cyph.com too.

Saying that you don't trust someone because of their behavior is completely valid.

Protonmail is for emails. But their server capacity is full and you just cant use it. It also needs your previous email so they want your identity.

Chatlink is for chat. Totally anonymous and no need to register if you dont want to save any contacts. It does not ask any of your personal information.

We just updated the site!

  • Now the login is much faster, especially when You have many items in Your list.
  • Userlist is now showing offline users as well.
  • It is also possible to lock a chat when logged in with an account.

Very cool, I could see this as being an alternative to IRC. Any way to integrate or to use an API to set up bots?

Interesting thought, but no API at the moment.
Easy way would be editing the original Javascript (it's open source) to act as a bot for example.

When and if this gets popular I'm sure the NSA will be knocking at your door and therefore you wont have choice in the matter.

You're correct about this not being comparable, however you're wrong about everything else. You can sign up for protonmail and you get a invite pretty quickly. Also, nobody is forcing you to use a real email address. They are not asking nor do they want your identity. The email is only there in case you forgot your login password, the auth password can't be recovered.

Is it open-sourced?
I'm not touching it without the source code. So the question remains.

Update: I had not thought that the link was the source code, sorry.

Yeah, that's why we have a technical solution for this: we don't have access to any of the encryption keys -- whoever is knocking at our door.

Sure we're interested to make some money in long term,
but never by compromising or limiting users' privacy.
Could be some paid extras.
