It was my mum's birthday yesterday. And I wanted to buy a birthday cake for her, but when I reached the bread shop, I realized I forgot carrying my wallet and I had only a few bucks in my pocket. I tried to talk to the boss of the shop if I can pay by bitcoin, to my surprise, she said YES and finally I paid the cake by bitcoin. This is my first time to use BTC as real money buying a real physical goods. As a bitcoiner, using BTC online is very common. Have you ever used Bitcoin as Real money to buy Real/physical goods? plz share your experience.

Do you know there is a drink called coffee? I basically forced a friend to start using Bitcoin to pay my coffee in Satoshis!
he was skeptical but now he trusts the whole thing... and he sells coffee to me.
That's all good!

Unfortunately, no. Directly for bitcoin I bought only online goods (games, services) I gave some bitcoin to my friends, etc. I can't spend bitcoin directly in my town because there is no place where I can do it. For now I can only sell my coins and exchange it for FIAT.

No, she said usually no one knows she can accept bitcoin payment for her cakes because there isn't a note saying "bitcoin accepted" in here shop. And I did not expect to buy a cake using bitcoin as well ... it happened all because I forgot carrying my wallet when I leaved home and the cake shop owner's a bitcoiner by coincidence.

The only things I have bought with Bitcoins are online. I haven't seen any store around me that accepts Bitcoin which kind of disappoints me.

Yes. Some blu rays. As far as I could tell I was the first person to ask to pay with that method so I had to walk them through it.

It's pretty amazing that you were able to convince someone to accept bitcoin on first try. This person must have already had a bitcoin wallet going or something.
I definitely bought some beer and a meal with bitcoin almost a year and a half ago in person. It was really fun.
However, I'd also say that when I've bought stuff online with bitcoin and it gets shipped to me that's also "real/physical goods" it's just not face-to-face.

If I'm honest the only thing I've ever bought with bitcoin is a Trezor. I gamble with bitcoin & that's it. My main goal with bitcoin is HODLING as an investment for the future. I'm seeing my stash as a store of value which hopefully in the future will make me a lot of money. I'm not really interested in spending any of my coins apart from gambling with some of the money I get from signature campaigns.

I've also bought a trezor and some casascius/lealana coins. Can't think of any real world purchases that aren't directly related to Bitcoin.

I bought some stuff on NewEgg with Bitcoin. It was ok, but not necessarily too different than ordering the traditional way. I guess if you didn't have a credit card or bank account it would make this more attractive as you could still order online.
The one thing I noticed and did not like was the fact that by paying with bitcoin you basically give up any return rights. The best you can hope for it a NewEgg gift card, where you would need to buy something else from NewEgg. I suppose you could possibly sell it to someone else in order to get your Bitcoin or cash back, but this would be an additional hassle and you would probably have to sell if for a slight loss. i.e. $200 gift card for $175. I assume this is probably due to them using Bitpay as their processor, so they are not handling Bitcoin directly.
While it is great to see merchants accepting Bitcoin, until it becomes a true two-way currency I see it continuing to having an uphill battle with mainstream adoption. Once you can get your Bitcoin refunded I think the game will change.

The technical aspects of Bitcoin make it impossible to refund. But if people were honest, then they would give refunds if they handled the Bitcoin themselves. I'm sure that once big merchants start accepting Bitcoin that they will still give refunds in Bitcoin if they didn't do it through a processor. It makes them much more credible. The problem is that most places that accept Bitcoin use a processor and don't handle the money themselves. Neweg uses Bitpay and many of the other large places that accept Bitcoin such as Dell and Microsoft all use either Bitpay or Coinbase.

The system should have one additional field of Bitcoin address in case of refund, that the user should fill as well when buying. That's as easy as that, or am I missing something?
