I'm trying the new version qt, currently downloading blocks, I love the new design with the integrated graphic and the block explorer. Now only wait for the synchronization to end, it will surely take some time but it is good to do it to see that everything is working well.

I've never yet managed to get Slimcoin to read a bootstrap file successfully on any platform.
Arrgh. Such sloppy thinking. Never even checked whether the folklore cat blk* > bootstrap.dat is actually efficacious. TIL how to create a bootstrap.dat file: https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/tree/master/contrib/linearizeLinearize
Construct a linear, no-fork, best version of the blockchain.
Sounds promising - except that it doesn’t work out of the box with Slimcoin’s elderly JSON-RPC API and it's unconverted from Python 2.7 (sigh). What does work, perhaps not-unexpectedly if you think hard enough about it, is gavrilo77's SLIMCoin.rar file https://mega.nz/#!XscB0RbQ!R3FJxDyYEK65ilqlGKf9tmahAwkysh5xm6lw5SpIuZAStrictly speaking, it's not a “bootstrap.dat” in that it is a packaged copy of the relevant elements of the datadir folder. gjh@ashpool:~$ rar l ~/Downloads/SLIMCoin.rar

(which I include so everyone is sharing the model) I checked and it worked for my wine-hosted SLIMCoin.exe. And, after repackaging as a tar.gz archive (because I couldn't be arsed hunting down a copy of rar) and copying across to the Sierra VM, also works for the SLIMCoin.app OSX binary. I will check that the package also works for the Linux app and if I can create one under Linux that also works universally, I'll configure the server to publish a daily downloadable package. Edit: As ArchitektoR observes, it also works for Linux, as I just found out.. BTW, refreshed windows binary and OSX binaries (one for bdb4.8 wallet and one for bdb6.1) are on: https://minkiz.co/noodle/9Cheers Graham

Used the same way to transfer blockchain from windows wallets to Linux slimcoind daemon. It works with almost every coin.

I tried the new windows client (refreshed one). - there is no Slimcoin icon - loading of the client is slower than the previous one - mining trough the wallet is working but it is more than 10 times slower than https://mega.nz/#!ewEl0RiJ!v7NgPRz3pVhUMN3vkB9eZnTEma774kdujfgk2qLGMdE

Here my impressions - Blockchain was synchronized from scratch without major problems, it took about 15 hours
- Loading of the client is fast for me
- There is no Slimcoin icon
- Interface and nice design
- Solo mining with slimminer works fine
- Small bug in "Decode transaction" shows "BSY" instead of SLM
Cheers!

I made bootstrap.dat as well. Wallet is reading it only when i open it with the command ./slimcoind -loadblock=~/.slimcoin/bootstrap.dat
Edit: My boostrap.dat doesnt work well. It is stoped after ~ 50 000 blockss

When I want to create a bootstrap, I start the daemon or wallet with -detachdb, let it synch up, stop and copy away the needed files. I don't know if -detachdb is needed but it sounds like it exists for that purpose. But loading such a bootstrap needs -loadblock as gavrillo77 notes.

I'm actually testing the "master" branch code, the command line linux version. The client seems to work fine so far. Unfortunately I am still having sync problems when starting from a earlier blockchain snapshot (e.g. block 600000). The strange thing is that syncing gets stuck at other blocks than with the 0.3.2 version (but it stops every time at the same blocks). It seems to be related to "CheckProofOfStake errors" in the debug.log. @gjhiggins: Do you operate a Linux version of 0.4.1 and does it sync without getting stuck from the beginning? I have seen that there was more advance in the master branch these days. Will download the newest code and try it (although last commits seem OSX and Windows related). I'll soon updating the OP and I'm also considering deleting the word "Official" from the thread title. Very interesting reads on the last page, gjhiggins. Slimcoin seems to be one of the very few real P2P projects in the altcoin world, and that's good ... Happy holidays to all

I have compiled the master branch on Debian Wheezy 64 and Ubuntu 15.10 64 and I am currently (successfully) running: slimcoin-qt on Wheezy 64 slimcoin-qt on Ubuntu Wily Werewolf 64 slimcoind on Wheezy 64 as public node All three have been synched from scratch from the network without problems. The public node's slimcoind getinfo reads as: { "version" : "SLMv0.4.1-alpha-43-g812154a-alpha", "protocolversion" : 60003, "walletversion" : 60000, "balance" : X "newmint" : X "stake" : 0.00000000, "blocks" : 856184, "moneysupply" : 13873156.89406400, "connections" : 19, "proxy" : "", "ip" : "X.X.X.X", "difficulty" : 0.00618169, "testnet" : false, "keypoololdest" : 1482851863, "keypoolsize" : 102, "paytxfee" : 0.01000000, "errors" } HTH

@gjhiggins: Do you operate a Linux version of 0.4.1 and does it sync without getting stuck from the beginning?
Yes to both questions. I haven't been able to replicate the “gets stuck whilst synching from the network” issue. (I haven't made any progress on creating a reliable bootstrap.dat file. It's not on the top of my stack because it's a bit of a nuance in view of several unchallenged reports of cross-platform success obtained merely by copying the blockchain files from one datadir to another.)I'm also considering deleting the word "Official" from the thread title.
Can I suggest “Mainstream” as a replacement? It's a reasonable claim to make; afaik, this bitcointalk thread is the only remaining active public discussion forum for the coin. I recompiled the Windows and OSX binaries with the “optimisation” flag set (-O3) and have refreshed the downloads available from https://minkiz.co/noodle/9 Dunno whether it'll make much difference to the mining hashrate, tho. I also changed the diffplot so that the chart is a little easier to read. Happy holidays to all Happy calendarial modulus, hope you make the most of the extra second. Cheers Graham

Hi, I am on a Mac OS, Sierra.
I got to the point where I compiled QT 5.7.1 but when I run qmake it says it doesn't find webkit and webkitwidgets. Apparently, in 5.7.1 they dropped these and replaced them with something else. Is there another way I could compile slimcoin on Mac OS?
Thank you!
Happy New Year, btw!

Also, the precompiled binary from minkiz doesn't get past the round welcome screen which says "Loading addresses". Is that meaning it's downloading the blockchain, or it loads the wallet addresses? A bit confusing Thanks!
