New website: The Crypto-Currency Business Directory (CBD)

http://cryptobiz.directory

Intended to be your "lemonade-stand-on-the-side-of-the-information-super-highway," CBD is a directory where users can list themselves and conduct business. Although it's targeted at small business and sole-proprietorships, everyone is invited to use the service. CBD accounts include an array of features designed, in sum, to simply conduct business on-line:

1 - Profile - description page at an easy to remember URL ( includes formatting, images, and documents )
2 - Phone Number - with Voice over Internet (VOIP)
3 - Email - with integrated  GPG encryption  and email aliases
4 - Document Management - with role based access control
5 - Crypto-Currency Wallet - with conversion feature

New Unique Feature: Price stability - CBD gives users the option to convert their crypto-assets to a dollar denominated figure. This action is known as a hedge-to-the-dollar or peg-to-the-dollar operation and is intended to ensure term stability.

Fees are deducted on an as-used basis and registration  requires a 0.02 BTC minimum.

+1 for using NuBits

Quote
Term price stability is achieved by converting Bitcoin to dollar denominated crypto-asset, NuBit(NBT). Additionally, payments can be sent and received with NBT, which maintains a 1 to 1 equivalent value in USD.

B&C Exchange - an upcoming decentralized exchange - also plans on using NuBits as a stable cryptocurrency for base trading pairs.

Thanks for the kind words.

Yes, 0.02 btc is required to register.

But,
What gave you the idea that every tx would attract a minimum of .02 btc in fees?
That is not the case. It costs 0.00002 to send a Bitcoin transaction from a wallet hosted on the site.

Please see http://cryptobiz.directory/pub/prices for details.

If you want to register, but don't have the 0.02 btc, send me a PM to ask for a temporary exception.

He just answerred that question, have you not read the thread, 0.02 btc is needed for registration, not for transaction fees.
Anyway, nice project, though I think 0.02 might be to steep of a fee for a new website like this.

I think 0.02 might be to steep of a fee for a new website like this.

The idea behind the almost negligible registration fee is to limit superfluous entries and messages. Otherwise nothing would stop a malicious entity from registering thousands of entries in the directory and monopolizing it for their own purpose.

Also received some feedback that the UI is unfamiliar/non-standard and therefore a potential turn-off to new users. Although, my personal opinion is that a diversity of UIs is a good thing for the net (and this is a well-thought-out, mobile-phone-friendly UI). However, my personal opinion does not pay the bills! Therefore, be on the lookout for a new site that looks like bootstrap and does not require any registration fee in 2017.

As i said before, if .02 is really too much for you, just PM me and i will wave the fee.

Always happy with more feedback!

Hello there!

-"lookout for a new site that looks like bootstrap"

I do not understood this part Cheesy You say you want to use bootstrap gui library design? That would be interesting choice.

Anyway I am already trying the site Cheesy Smiley

Despite the fact that I do not like the new addresses like .directory, .travel, and so on, the site looks not very unprofessional. If your target group are businesses then you should urgently remodel your design and the structure. The colors are too dark. Choose some colors which are more positive.

If your target group are businesses

My goal is to grow the Bitcoin economy by facilitating those under-served by the old-economy; unemployed and under-employed people of all ages.
In other words, the target is not so much businesses but individuals who wish to do more business.

Therefore, CBD has a monetary themed color scheme.

But, I'm open to suggestion.
CSS3 has a new feature called color variables, at the time CBD launched it was not supported in Chrome, Safari, or IE. But, at some point it should be possible to use hex-color-values to define a custom color scheme to you personal liking.

Please let me know your suggestion.

Good idea... I agree that you need to change the UI theme/format for the site. Consider changing your domain too, get an .io address or something. The vibe that your site gives off currently is that it's not legit. It's almost got a 90's feel to it, "doing business online" and such. Maybe think about moving to drupal or something and punch up the style, design, formatting, and text for a 2016 crowd. For an example, look at shopify.com, squarespace, airbnb, etc. Also, offering a hot wallet is extremely risky. I wouldn't recommend that you do it due to all the security aspects to it. At a minimum, you should offer two-factor authentication on the logins.

I don't think it's overly risky to offer a hot-wallet. I have taken steps to secure the hardware, software, and personnel involved.  Further, I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is:

I've moved my personal funds (about 30BTC worth ~15kUSD) into the admin account on the site. Anyone who can hack the account and disclose to me their method is welcome to those. But, the sum is decreasing as i sell BTC to cover my hosting expenses etc. (please don't try to brute force the password as that could lead to a DoS condition -- not the intent of this challenge)

YES, I just announced a 15kUSD hack challenge!

Regarding two-factor auth, I'm in the process of working with a Swiss Smart-Card manufacturer to produce custom access tokens that will
  • be credit-card size
  • include interface for both USB and Smart-Card reader
  • be transparent and marked with a unique serial so they are tamper evident
  • bear a photo of the user
  • have spare key slots for other purposes

This will be ideal for people who want to access their account from a computer that does not belong to them  such as PoS because they will have access to the site for the period that the card is connect to the computer only. Additionally, users may opt to use the card exclusively (rather than requiring a password) so they don't have to type their password into an unknown computer.
