Wouldn't make it sense to restrict the lending section that way that only persons of a certain level can open a thread there? It looks to me like the amount of threads opened by 2 post newbies are enourmous. It seems to be like one or more persons have made a business out of it to try and spam the forum with requests. And i only can assume that it works when they do it all the time.
Restricting the creation of threads to members with a certain activity might be a good idea.

I have seen many new members get red for asking for loans, maybe some of them never knew that this would happen.
How about when someone who signs up for the first time has to read a certain post, rules what they can and cannot do whilst being a newbie (agrees to terms) then continues on to the forum.
|
And its gone.

I think that newbies should pay a small fee before they can access the lending section. The idea is the same as IP bans, but this time it is just with newbies. Real lenders won't care on a small fee (which they can earn from faucet), but scammers & spammers would.

Yeah but hypothetically some may not like their name coming up for the loan but may have enough collateral for the loan.

If they have enough collateral, they may sell part of them (if it is altcoin) or spend some satoshis from faucets. The small fee shouldn't be too high, though. About 1000 satoshi is OK, it is just used to anti-spam.

I'm agree with you SebastianJu, now days, 80% of the new thread are newbies buying bad trust... Is a waste of time for them and for the users who read all the threads on that section. Or maybe the forum can make a solution as they do it on the gambling section with the "Investor based games", we can open a lending section for newbies. It would be a nice solution.

I was thinking the same thing. I think that a "Newbie Loans" section would be good to have, since it would clear most of the spam out of the main loaning area, but still allow newbies to ask for loans, and for valid loan requests to be fulfilled.

If newbies can offer a valid collateral, why they should be deprived from asking for a loan? Just because of those scammers who try to play blind and unaware of the rules, all newbies should suffer? This way tomorrow a suggestion would come up to stop newbies from opening a thread in Currency Exchange/Digital Goods section as well. It's unfair to those few legitimate users.

I think that it does not make any sense, i think the ¨newbie¨ status is just a status even a legendary or hero member can scam you, it´s true a lot newbies just coming here because they think it´s easy to get a loan.
But it will not make it better to restrict it

In fact i think the newbie status is different. I mean what does it mean? That this user is not really a member of this community yet. He only came freshly in and he has nothing better to do to ask for a loan? Wheres the legit use case? This is no loan forum, this is a bitcoin forum. So what should we think of users that register only to ask for a loan? I freshly found this forum and i thought i now need a loan?
Once they are a more established member, lets say a jr. member, then it would make sense that they might need a loan that is bitcoin related. But freshly registering and asking for a loan? No, i don't see this happening for a legit reason.
Of course an established member might want a loan and not revealing his main account, but surely he would not have a problem to be active with that new account a bit.
Restricting would simply make it more work for scammers. And probably it would not be worth it anymore then.

It will not work... because a 'newbie' can surely wait to be a Jr. member and after that ask a loan. It is only a question of time , sooner or later he will try to scam the community.

But it would be a completely different level of approach. I mean when you check out the lending section then the only thing a scammer has to do to register an account and post a scam attempt. If he would have to do this with a jr. member then he would have to register, wait 5 weeks and make 30 posts. That's surely a lot of work for a "i might find a stupid person who sends me coins without collateral". I think this particular scam wouldn't work anymore. Too much effort for a too small chance.

I think it's a really good idea Sebastian. It might not stop all newbie scammers as they can buy a higher ranked account and still go ahead and scam but it'd certainly put a stop to a significant amount of it. Like you said 2 posts newbies starting threads asking for loans just screams 'SCAM' to me. When I was a newbie the 1st thing I did was explore the forum, educate myself, ask people questions etc. If somebody is a genuine newbie they won't immediately upon registering go straight into the lending section & try to get a loan will they? In conclusion I think you shouldn't be able to start threads in the lending section until you're a Full Member. It won't stop all scammers but even if new restrictions stop 10% of scams it's worth it, isnt't it?

But what about the valid loan requests from Newbies, Junior members, and Members? Although most newbie loan requests indeed are scam attempts, there are some valid loan requests from newbie ranked members. With that rule you're also throwing all Member ranked users under the bus, and there are lots of valid Member loan requests as well. I don't think a user should have to be on the website for at least four months before they can request a loan, that doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Like I mentioned before, I think the newbie loan sub-section would be a good idea to combat all the spammy newbie loan requests we've seen in the past week or two. If people want to loan to newbies, they can take a look in that section. If not, then users can stay in the main loaning area and won't have to filter out the spam requests from newbies.

never, as long as those newbies are proven that they do not have any kind of scam alts, with a good reason. if we suddenly neggd the newbie in which none of the alt attached, that would just encourage alt creation; we should not negative them at first to prevent trust misuse, you know trust are not moderated to prevent admin abuse. at most those newbies which attempt to scam could be banned for posting zero-value posts in lending session.

out of ability to use the signature, i want a new ban strike policy that will fade the strike after 90~120 days of the ban and not to be traced back, like google | email me for anything urgent, message will possibly not be instantly responded i am not really active for some reason
