Benfica have lost every game on this CL edition. The Portuguese were able to score only one goal, when they lost at home 2-1 against CSKA.

On the other hand, Basel is doing very well. They won the last game against United.

Yeah, Benfica performance this in UCL was awful. 0 points and only 1 scored goal. Before season I expected that they will fight with Basel for 2nd place in group.
And Barcelona playing really boring football in recent matches of UCL, but tonight it was enough to win against Sporting. Messi played only since 60th minute, it's because Barca will have more important game in La liga against Villarreal upcoming weekend. But when finally Suarez will start to play how he supposed to do that
Atletico Madrid made a miracle tonigh and relegated to Europa league. But their are one of the main contendors to win this trophy.

But second place of Chelsea means that they will not meet powerful teams like Real, Juventus and Bayern in first playoff round.

not always true By getting second Chelsea cannot face Bayern, Juventus and Real Madrid and those are the candidates for winning the CL while there's only two teams that they can fear facing when they 2nd those PSG and Barcelona the rest they can handle them but the problem is if Liverpool finishes at top they will only can draw with PSG Barcelona and Beşiktaş or Sevilla if they finished ahead of Liverpool so they can get really lucky and draw Beşiktaş or unlucky and get the other official two teams , Sevilla They can handle but it's not guaranteed to get that top spot.that is the negative point of being the fifth English team to qualify for next round but not in top of your group as it will limit your options unlike the others They have plenty of options but definitely one of them will face at least one of the three teams I mentioned before.

Juventus victory over Olympiacos last night confirmed that they qualified for the next round. I had previously been convinced that Juventus would win the game because they were required to inevitably have to win in that match if they were to qualify for the next round at UCL, so I would bet on Juventus victory in gambling and the results were not worth much.

Well, what a night. Not exactly the fighting displays I would expect from some teams on their last chance to make it at the largest club stage, but still a few surprises along the way. What's strange for me is that we've got Chelsea and Juventus now in second place, so we may yet see group winners be forced to face a strong team anyway, but that's not uncommon in the last 16. A great outcome for me would now be for Liverpool to win their group and there's a great chance to meet Juventus, but I wouldn't mind them facing down Real Madrid either. It's been far too long since they met those giants.

P.S. I learnt something new through Chelsea's 2nd place. That goal difference isn't all =)

My predictions for today's matches :

Tottenham Vs APOEL : home win with a large score to guarantee the qualifivation in the first place.
Real Madrid Vs Dortmund : I think it's a match without any pressure because RM is qualified in the second place, and Dortmund will play the EL, so we will see a spectacular match, as a result I propose both teams scores.
FC Porto Vs Monaco : home win to reserve all probabilities to be qualified for the second round.

Totally with you here, tokeweed. Not knocking the Spanish league or style at all, quite enjoyable at times but as a spectator who also loves playing football, there's a lot of entertainment value with English football even when fused with continental styles depending on their manager. That rough and tumble, bursts of speed... I can recall when eras were defined by which leagues dominated Champions League - we've had the Italians dominate, then the Spanish, I think it's about time for an English showdown. The best thing right now is that if all 5 qualify, they still won't meet any English team at least until the quarterfinals.

I don't think there's ever been 5/8 teams from one league in the CL Quarters has there? Liverpool's game tonight is so mouthwatering, can't wait to see Mane and co splash blood at Anfield. Too bad they're not even 1.3 odds on ML, or I'd have put a nice fat bet down.
