Lately the mining hardware forums has been flooded with ad's posted by the company iTop.   They put a clickable ad at the top of most of their posts.  I talked about this in another forum and I think it's a violation of rules.

*edited to make smaller
I think it's in violation of #22 and/or #24:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0

Please look at the following two accounts they post the click-able ad with iTop logo as an ad on almost all posts.

itop_james - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=539247
ITOP - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=543718

I have no problem if they advertise in signature or other ways on forum.  It just seems like a Gorilla type of advertising to make sure to post ad's in Bitmain threads in hopes of sales from the click-able ad.

I would appreciate if a moderator could look into this and hopefully stop these ad's at the top of each post.

Below is the ad they have I believe been breaking rules with by posting at top of almost all posts:

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

That would be great if they do.  At first it was not a huge deal but they kept on and on.

And when they were quoted it would carry it on.  So one post with it quoted a few times equals a lot of ad's.   I went through my post's and edited out the ad's.  I wish they would do the same and edit past posts and delete the ad's but sadly that will not fix all the quoted ones.

But if they have stopped that would be very good news, and I'm sure many will be happy.

Yes, they shouldn't be doing that. It's equivalent to signature content, which should be within the signature area only. If it doesn't fit or isn't allowed, then it isn't allowed.

The department of redundancy department approves of this message.

What they are doing is highly annoying. It is much like the "bitcointalk for android" signature that some people include as part of their posts (I see less of that recently, but it used to be common), and is essentially advertising their website in each of their posts

I wouldn't mind if it was just a little text link or something. but a big banner under every post is ripping the thread apart in my opinion.

I'm glad to hear that it's going to be stoped.  I want to thank you BadBear or whoever went through and cleaned up posts taking away that nasty iTop logo.

Thanks!

I didn't mind that as much as when I went to post on itop's thread and it was removed for bitmains official thread only to see that notlist3d had his thread up. And a bunch of tattle tale schism and hurt feeling when they put ITOP through the ropes only to find out it was a real miner and indeed ITOP put the first one in the USA. Wink so instead of bashing a company new to accepting bitcoin maybe make them feel at home and you are then helping bitcoin grow. It's genius...
