I don't know who originally had the plan to bring in De Bruyne with a long history of previous injuries and indeed his contribution to the squad was huge but De Bruyne's injury could recur at any time.

Conte definitely puts a lot of pressure on the players and tires them a lot which causes these injuries. That part is true and undeniable, happens anytime he manages a team, but at the same time that is exactly the reason he can extract the best out of every single player and gets titles, because if you do not end up with anything then no player being injured is not ok at all. He pushes them forward as much as they can which is not going to cause a lot of problems for the long run.

If nothing works for a team then there are no reason why not to push the players forward, so they can get a lot more. Sometimes this doesn't work and players injuries ended up being something that causes a lot of problems for the situation.

Having strong defense is a good foundation for their success but as said above, I still have doubt about their defense ability. In addition, with not too goal productive attacking power, it's hard for them to beat opponents in many remaining matches of the season especially in big clashes with strongest clubs in Serie A. I only see there is good chance for Roma to get one of positions in top four of Serie A for being eligible of a return to UEFA Champions League a first time after many years.

De Bruyne was a free transfer, which would have been quite a good deal if Napoli were lucky enough to avoid injury quickly. Unfortunately, De Bruyne, with his injury history, couldn't stay fit. Eventually, he got injured again. And Napoli must have known this. They simply didn't prepare for it. Napoli should have brought in a player who could replace De Bruyne if he were to suffer another injury.
