Help me with making some vanity addresses?

Very, Very, new to bitcoin here, just installed my first ever bitcoin wallet about 20 hours ago and now I have some questions that I am hoping this community can help me with.

I want to generate a bunch of bitcoin address that start with "1GLASS". I am a glass blower (Lamp-worker) by trade and after being approached a few times at a recent trade show if I would accept bitcoin for my pipes I figured I would look into it before the next trade show.

I have downloaded and extracted the vanitygen64 program and am able to make a single "1GLASS" address that I have to copy paste from the cmd prompt but what I would like it to do is output some kind of list of "1GLASS" addresses into a text file or a spreadsheet format of some sort. So it makes more than one at a time that way I can just leave the program running for a few days and have a bunch of addresses from it without having to watch it and copy/paste every time it finds an address.

If you run vanitygen without any arguments you are presented with a list of commands. There's a command to keep finding addresses after the first match and another one to dump all of this to a text file

Arguments? I know nothing about coding of any kind. My technical abilities go about as far as opening firefox, and running disk defrag. Could you be a little more specific please? Not to be a pain, but I am on a 5 times lower technical level than most of you here are.

You must make use of the -k parameter, that will generate a list or keep on looking for addresses until you stop it.

Also use the -o operator to specify the output file. Your command will look something like this:

vanitygen64 -i -k -o c:\MyAddressList.txt 1Glass

You said you are still new to this so just a word of warning. I take it you will be importing these addresses into a wallet. If you do so take note that a backup of the wallet will not include these imported addresses. You have to keep a separate backup of those addresses and their individual private keys. If you lose those you will not be able to access any funds on those addresses.

Also, I would highly recommend that you read up on security related matters and on how to protect 'paper wallets' as that is what you are effectively generating.

I'm sure others will provide more advice, please read through them carefully and make sure you fully understand what it is you are doing before you start sending funds to those addresses.

Edit: Forgot to add. The -i parameter is to set case sensitivity. Without it it will be case insensitive.

Also, you can use the -e parameter if you want to encrypt the private keys with a password but be careful of this. If you forget that password you are screwed.

Another Edit: I mentioned security. Please do not leave that text file on your pc and or mail it to yourself. Your addresses and private keys are in that file for all to see. I suggest that you encrypt it if you can or at the very least print it out and delete it from your computer. As said, please do a search on paper wallet security and read everything you can about it.

Thanks Nomad that appears to have worked like a charm. I am importing them into an Armory wallet. I have an old laptop I am using as an offline computer to generate them with as well as to print them from for backup. Although I will not be hanging on to any bitcoin ever, longer than it takes to get home from where ever i am at and selling for the weekend to sell the bitcoin for cash. I sell my glass with very low margins and the fluctuating price of bitcoin is more than i care to gamble with. One of the guys who asked if I would take his bitcoin as payment for a water pipe told me about localbitcoins.com where it should be easy enough to get money into paypal from bitcoin. If there is Wi-Fi wherever I am at the time I will probably just try and turn it into Paypal as soon as I get it to avoid any fluctuation risks.

Perhaps you could use a bitcoin payment processor like bitpay?
They take like 1% commission and convert bitcoin to fiat instantly.
I don't know how to combine it with vanity addresses though, because I've never used bitpay.

You will scroll it up easily, worry not! I found it more like scripting, because you did not really needed to know programming / coding to understand what people have written above - and which, I do not want to repeat except if you have a question that I can answer. By time, you will use the code with more confidence and someone who knows the basics of such coding does not necessarily have to be a coder himself, it is enough if he / she knows some codes and what they do.

Thanks for the input FindFTP. I looked into two places like that, bitpay and coinbase. Both seemed to be covered with more red tape than opening a regular bank account. Seeing as its Glass Pipes I am selling I think I want to keep it a little more personal and direct without advertising to a payment processor what I am doing, beyond that if I sell $200 of merchandise for bitcoin in a year I would be surprised so at this time I think I am just going to try and manage it all myself. I really appreciate the tip though as I would have never thought to look into it before you mentioned it.

Obviously with better hardware you received better performance. However, that series of Nvidia is really old and outdated. I have a Asus Strix GTX 970 and it can run 40Mkey/s (with a good CPU). Such a GPU does not cost much, for some people at least. That is a increase of 25.9 times due to newer hardware. OP you aren't asking for much though. That's just 5 characters and according to the Wikipedia it shouldn't take too long per address.
