Question about this coin. It's going to host videos right? 4k video, HD, etc? That's a lot of terabytes if this thing becomes popular? Is it going to be like torrents in that once a video loses popularity they are in sense gone forever, and only the proof that it used to be there left behind?

Yes, becoming a decentralised real-time Netflix and Youtube is one of the principal goals of DECENT. HD, 4k and 8k and much more are going to be supported.
Concerning data distribution protocols, various (IPFS, Tribler, ...) are going to supported in live DECENT-Core.
The goal is to achieve continuous redundancy of the content.

DECENT has a decentralised reputation system based on immutable blockchain no third party can tweak.
There is a small publishing fee depending on the size of the content and publishing time to prevent spam. Thereby, unpopular content would not get republished and will eventually peter out and will not continue to bloat  DECENT Network.

There are lots of real-world benefits. When you sell ebooks, for example, the online publisher's fee is huge, and censorship is common. You can save money and artistic freedom by obsoleting those centralized publishers. If you live in countries where media is heavily controlled, like China, then you need it even more.

Currently DECENT is not proactively removing such content. Every content that gets published on DECENT Network is there for a limited time defined in a smart contract. Once that time elapses, the content is not guaranteed to be accessible. As unpopular content is unlikely to get republished, it will eventually peter out from DECENT Network.
