Faucets aren't useless. They're a great way for newbies to earn their first Satoshis plus they're accessible to people of all ages. It can be exciting for seven year old who doesn't get a lot of pocket money to collect BTC from faucets and eventually have enough to afford a $1-$5 game on steam

Faucets are the best way to learn practically about How Bitcoin Works - without any investment. This is must and should for beginners.

At the same time, I know few people who live with Faucets!!  So don't underestimate Faucets.

Probably because people don't have time to work or maybe because they want to earn a few bucks in a couple minutes without spending much effort. And faucets are perfect for exactly that, earn money for small effort like captcha typing.

It's not stupidity but people often take part in faucets or captchas to spend some free time and earn BTC. Many of them have over 100 referrals and for them it's a good deal to make over $2-$10 daily. Yeah, it sounds like working for pennies but everyone has their own choice to make.

Personally, I used faucets to familiarize myself with the bitcoin technology, when I first began I read FAQS and some websites and it seemed that bitcoin was complicated, but after trying the faucets, receiving and sending money, I realized that bitcoin was extremely simple, and finally I was ready to put some money on it (not much thought).
