Just tested loss of internet with my batch 1 S7 and my batch 3 S7. I run with a proxy to combine all my miners to a single network connection.  This runs on a local machine.  I left my LAN connection from the two S7's to this machine.  Then I disconnected by DSL link. I continued to monitor the S7's with their web interface.

For the first 10 minutes, the proxy continued to fool the miners that all was well.  After about ten minutes the S7's started beeping.  Checking their status, both showed the connection to the proxy server as dead.  The 5 second hash rate dropped rapidly.  Both S7's have their fans set on manual speed at 40%.  I left things this way for another five minutes, observing that the fans continued to spin at their normal speed.  The chips cooled down.

After another 10 minutes, I reconnected my DSL service and established pool connectivity.  Within about a minute, both S7's were back to normal, showing a connection to the local proxy and the 5 second hash rate building back up.

If there is an overheating safety problem with the S7's either:

1. It does not affect my two units
2. It is intermittent and may hit my two units some time in the future if there is a network outage
3. I may have bypassed the problem by using the fixed fan setting.

I am using the firmware originally supplied with the two units. 1.5.3.0, file date September 15, 2015.

I think the manual fan setting is the 'fix'.

I highly recommend others take my philosophy on Bitmain updates on miners that don't use SD cards and can't be reverted easy (C1, and S4 both were great with SD).

My motto is if it's the miner is working good and no big issue update, or big feature release.  I would just keep the current.  If it works great... not always best idea to change.

Good luck. After bitmain intentionally gimped the S4+ via firmware I asked them to provide the original so I could revert. Got a lot of "were working on it"  emails, but never any actual results.

I wanted to post my recent experience with Bitmain.  After having a brand new unit's controller die within the first days of use, I contacted Bitmain and was less than pleased by their proposed solution (ship the entire unit to China and wait for a response).  Thankfully, I stumbled upon the Bitmain USA team and contacted them.  They went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied with the resolution, and I am appreciative for their assistance.  I highly recommend dealing with their USA team out of Denver to make your life easier when dealing with Bitmain Products or Services.  Here's their number.  (844) 248-6246

Any email ? I need a S5 daughter board. (18 pins)

So just to verify, wil I be ok with 3 Corsair HX850's to power a single S7?  One PSU per blade with the third also powering the board.  I have these PSU's sitting around after selling off the 3 S5's they were powering.

You would be okay with 2 of those.  Don't need 3.  The only way you would need 3 is if the HX850 did not have a sufficient number of PCI-e connections.  I'm not familiar with how many PCI-e connections the HX850 has.  I have a lot of AX860's laying around.  They have 8 PCI-e Connections on the back of the PSU.

Make sure you use all 3 PCI-e cords on each blade because the gauge wire for the PCI-e cords provided with the HX850 PSU's are small compared to others that are custom made.  If you had custom made PCI-e cords that are 16 gauge like mine, you would be fine with 2 PCI-e cords for each blade.  That's my opinion.

I used 2 Corsair AX860 Platinum PSU's to power one S7.  It works fine.  I did have to do a soft reboot after initial power up to get it to hash at 4.8 TH/s with low HW errors.

HX850 has 6 so plenty. You can use the data table in my PSU comparison.

This hash board burning instance if the internet fails.

What is happening? Do the fans shut down when the internet is no longer sensed? If that is the case, it would not be hard to add a separate fan controller to keep the fans push/pulling air across the boards as a safety precaution while or if they ( Bitmain ) even bothers to provide a fix.

I suspect if it is happening it is something hard to replicate.  I never could replicate on my S5, but some had the issue and was a pain for them.  On S5 I even without internet a few times never had a big issue.

On S7 it is kinda scary to hear people mention this problem.  I'm hoping it's a very small subset of machines.

I'm not too bothered by this situation. My unit was in that state for about 36 hours (switch died) before I noticed. It was cold in a different part of my flat and there were no problems at the time or as a result. And as I explained in the other other other S7 thread with some maths, a lower fan speed and hotter exhaust doesn't suddenly turn it into an oven.

Now, I need to find the way, how much will be daily power consumption.. :-( I have no idea

It's easy to figure out.  You know how many watts the S7 uses.  Multiply that by how many hours per day you will mine with it and divide by 1000, that is how many kilowatt hours/day you will use.  Multiply that by 30 and that's how many KWh you will use in a month.  Multiply that by your electricity rate and that's what it will cost you to run an S7 per month.  Omit the x30 step and that will give you per day cost.

For me to run one 24/7 for a month it would cost = 1.25KW * 24h * 30d * $0.30 = $270 a month.

My daily cost would be = 1.25KW * 24h * $0.30 = $9 a day. That's also why I will never own one.

Just a quick edit, but contract days per month are usually taken as 30.4. It sounds like a small difference between 30 and 30.4 but it underestimates by 5 days a year, which in this case is $45.

Well shoot, I need to look at my PSU's again.  I could've sworn they only had 4.  But I think powering 2 boards with one HX850 using 6 cords would put a lot of strain on that.  I guess I'll keep it at 3 PSU's for my single S7...if the rumors are true about the S7-lite, then I'll re-evaluate my power.

And thank you Bitmain!  Ordered 10-16, Batch 3, shipping today via UPS, I should have it on Thursday.  Only 1 unit, but I've been hurting after selling some S5's to pay for it.

I looked at the pic on the corsair website, four connectors.
You can only do one HX850 per board safely. Can't have 2 psu's on one board.
hx850 3 cables to first board
hx850 3 cables to second
hx850 3 cables to third, fourth cable to controller.
I have an hx750 here, that would work for one board also. 4 connectors.
