Have ~22THs wrapped up in PACMiC v3 anyway. I would be very interested to know the underclock potential of these if they were running @ ~1kW each.

I'm more interested to see BM1385's voltage curve as we didn't get one this time. It doesn't feel like .25 is the limit and like the S3 to the S4 and the S5 to the S4+ we could see even high efficiencies on a theoretical S8.

Indeed. Some of the more common official peak ratings are in my PSU guide, although for 24/7 its still going to officially be the stated rating. That being said, I've ran many corsair PSUs past their limits in challenging conditions and they've done fine.

I'm using an EVGA G2 gold 1300 now with two S5s and it's running at roughly 93/94% efficiency.  Per my 'at the wall' meter.  all red VGA cables used, vertical strato setup with a box fan.  I just checked this.  Was running at like 97% efficiency when only was running one , but lot less load.

EVGA 1300 has only 8 connectors and you need one of them for controller, so that leaves 6 left for three boards in S7-will it work? I guess that we will have to wait until someone does it first (my money is on Philip since he was always a fan of evga).

They have shown us three points on the curve with :-

0.71V 0.263W/GH
0.66V 0.219W/GH (S7 / 18 Chip Chain with 12V supply)
0.60V 0.181W/GH (S7 / 18 Chip Chain with 10.8V supply)

The S5 with BM1384 bottoms out at 0.6V. I do not know if being full custom opens the way to a lower core voltage but my guess as both BM1384 & BM1385 are 28nM is that BM1385 will also bottom out at 0.6V?

Mining still dead in the UK at $0.23, and shipping to a host is probably going to be a year to breakeven when the inevitable diff rises happen so no new machines for me

Someone actually mentioned on the S5+ putting an inline delay device on the cable that goes to the controller so that it would intentionally power on AFTER the hash boards.  I thought it was an interesting idea but he was wondering if that would violate warranty even though he wasn't modifying the device just putting another device in-between the the PSU and the connection.  I personally think that should have been part of the controller design ANYWAY through firmware, by hey that's me.  It just seemed a bit asinine to have an intentionally separate connection that another switch had to be flipped to power on a unit. 

Maybe that can be in batch run 2.  (HINT HINT Bitmain)

I do not think a delay is necessary, the words in the S7 document are slightly clearer than the S5+

If you use different PSU for hash boards and control board, please make sure to power the hash boards first and the control board only after the hash boards have been powered.

The key bit being in bold and although not exactly what it says I would interpret as being that Control & Hash can be turned on simultaneously, the only NoNo being Control first, Hash second?

So many things I dislike about this miner.

1- I can't afford to buy any.  
2- Using 3 PCI-e's per card is uneven wear on a regular, mass produced PSU's.
3- Quality 1,300-1,400 Watt PSU's are very expensive and wire count could be an issue.
4- Takes a whole breaker on its own; can't put thing else on other than USB miners.
5- It goes down, you're down in a big way.
6- Like louder than a jet taking off.

What I like though is the metallic shroud and the two fans like the S3... neat, solid set up.

Although I see the logic, larger miners, less small $ sales, less overhead but it's not very good for vanilla home mining.
I think half of that half that would be fine or use blades with 4 power ports instead of 3.
Noise won't bother me but will bother many home miners.
Not sure if I will buy this at all, I could nearly double my daily take tho... but at BTC8.0 I will pay off some old bills or buy some nice things instead.

Although, knowing myself, I will likely buy a few, I prefer the 1U miners over anything.

Yeah but I/we somehow manage the mod s5 fans and they are not as loud. The design on this miner seems to be tight. 3 boards are close, so I am not sure if any other fan would do the job. Rich suggested that we could split 2 into 3 miners, each miner having 2 boards, just like s5 (assuming the s5 controller would work with them). But until this is clear, its just a gamble for me as Im literally living with my miners.

Very useful.  My big thing I have is finding proper space for my units.  I'm looking a co-hosting locations now.  The thing is that means I'll be paying commercial rates, probably around 9 cents per kW/h, where I live and assuming the hosting company doesn't try to put a premium on that to F you.  However, as the IRS regulations have came out in the US, it's my belief that mining any cryptocurrency would then qualify as a manufacturing trade or business, since you're creating an asset.  As such a light industrial space would be able to command even lower electricity rates.  In some places in the US that's as low as 5.5 cents per kW/h.  Course finding that space without having to rent a 8,500 Sq Ft warehouse is the PITA where I'm at.
