In the interest of safety, I was thinking about changing the point at which the S7 stops from 80 Celsius down to something like 70 Celsius.  Has anyone come across where that value of 80 is stored?

I found some stuff in /config that was close, but not it.  I really don't want to do a grep of 80 on the entire filesystem or anything else like that Smiley

Received my first S7-F1 today. Unfortunately it arrived DOA. Not off to a good start with the single fan units.

firmware wise, please update when you have to (need to), other wise, let it be.  Leave Ants Alone if it is working for you!

It wont let me update the firmware cause it wont let me access the gui after a few minutes (maybe 2 minutes)

.

How to get out from Antminer S7 controller B.B.B.    software ?

File System Version - Tue Sep 15 16:50:19 CST 2015

It still works great with the 6 x S7 blades.

This version has never been downloadable from Bitmain page.

how are you guys obtaining these extra blades? can you buy an io board from s5+ and just spare blades? cause they arent listed in bitmains page.

i have confirmed an unpowered and unplugged hashing board does not appear in miner status page, no --- just not existant so logic would dictate adding a board is the matter of just plugging it in.. or there would be a decent chance of this working.

what about cooling?

It wont let me update the firmware cause it wont let me access the gui after a few minutes (maybe 2 minutes)

have you tried unplugging the boards power and data cable so just the io board and bb are plugged in to network and power? they are all that need the update really.

Glad to see you posting again. Can you handle returns on defective S7 hash boards in Colorado, or do they need to be sent to China? (1X defective B8, 2X defective B1)

I've personally sent parts to Colorado for repair. They do a great job and are awesome to work with.

@Prelude,

Colorado can do factory level repair, however, it is fee based.  Can you send email to support@bitmainwarranty.com with photos of front and back of the PCB that need repair?  Do you see any visual burn or smell of something melted?

Repair cost and possibility of repair is unknown until fully diagnosed.  If half the PCB is burnt, we probably can not fix that but may have to offer you the replacement!!

can anybody answer where the temperate sensor on the hashing board is located?

just looking for the general vicinity although a picture with the sensor circled would be great.

mostly concerned if its in the back, front, end top or bottom of the board for gauging accuracy of the reported readings.

Temperature sensor is in the very middle of the Top / Non ASIC / Connector side of the board.

Ty Rich, this may explain why one board always reports about 5-10 degrees cooler than others on my miner.

Hey,

I am thinking about ordering two S7's with power supplies.

Still think it's worth it? Or better off just waiting for the S9?

Thanks,

I was in the exact same situation and decided to go for it. Big promises have been made about the 14nm miners but nothing has come to light and I bet we are fall before we see anything. By then my s7 at the prices they currently are will have made me money.

They are on their way. I was fortunate enough to have some kind people on the forum donate me some $100.00 off coupons so that helped.

so i have been playing around with board configuration, frequencies and voltages..

one thing i have asserted as a certainty is that the issue of heatsinks falling off during shipment, should no longer be of concern LOL

pretty sure they're like cemented on or something now. almost killed a blade trying to remove one, but was able to resuscitate.

unfortunately my board that ran 5 degrees cooler than the other two now runs 4 degrees warmer on average. sign, cost of "error" in trial and error.

Because they want your top-dollar money right now for soon-to-be-obsolete hardware, and then again when they release new stuff.

A company that sells widgets will always tell you to buy their widget right now and don't wait because that is what they are in business to do.
