1st of all, what youre describing is called cloud mining.. you should read up on that. Also I never heard of that site or service so most likely could be a scam only based on 90% new business in btc are likely like that. Do not choose new services over the old known ones. Go with hashnest that people are rave about.

You seem to be new around here so firs of all, welcome! Be very careful about mining. In essence, solo Bitcoin mining is about 98% unprofitable today unless if you don't live somewhere where you get a free electricity. This is about mining if you want to rent your or buy your own hardware. Cloud mining as well. There are maybe 1 or 2 businesses that do it right out of 30 out there. The rest are very likely a scam. Even with these 2, you won't make much. Better look to invest in some other way in Bitcoin, not mining. Whatever you decide to do, double check even triple check everything, do research, ask questions on this forum so that you don't get scammed.

Yeah you can, but you need to know that if you don't find any blocks you won't receive any Bitcoin. Solo mining is like lottery!

I haven't heard on cloud mining extensively because it's something I strongly advise against. However, from what I've seen, you cannot chose where your hashing power goes. The cloud mining company does that for you and they will pay accordingly.
If someone would post a cloud mining service where you can direct the hashing power yourself, the answer to your question would be yes and you could simply just use a solo pool (or setup everything yourself but I doubt you'll be able to).

Cloudmining is usually operators having a array of machine mining and the earnings are distributed to the users. Or, in a worst case, it being a ponzi and they don't have actual hardwares mining. Mining rig rentals on this case allows you to buy the hashpower from various people and they act as a middle man to secure your trade. They are generally safe as the hashpower can be pointed at your pool and you don't need any investments. However, everyone there is attempting to make a profit hence the price would be higher than the profit you would be able to make.

Yes you can, I do every now and again . When I have some spare bitcoin I use my rentals to solo bitcoin mine on ck's pool: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=763510.0miningrigrentals.com have been around for a while and I've been using them for about a year without any problems what so ever. I still haven't found a block though but 80 people have in the last 12 months.

Please do not confuse cloud mining ponzis with miner rental services like miningrentals (never worked with them), betarigs or nicehash.
With all of the above miner rentals you choose where to point the hash to, unlike with cloud mining where you get some profit based on some shady calculations. I am personally using betarigs and nicehash a lot and can say they are completely legit and honest in what they offer.
And you can solo mine with them either on your private pool or - which is probably a very bad idea - pointing them directly to the rpc of your coind.

miningrigrental isn't a ponzi, it work like a charm, i did many many renting with them, everything went always fine, their support is top notch
and yes you can solo mine, you need to allow inbound connections in your machine or virtual machine, than point the mniner that you've rented to your esternal ip so not to 192.168.xx.xx
this ip must be allowed to recieve connection from your config file in the folder of the client you want to point at your miners
rpcallowip= your public ip(ISP ip)

You should read OP more careful. Also you shouldn't make bold statements about services you've never heard of before. Miningrigrentals is a legit site. Hashnest is cloud mining site. This has nothing to do with rig rentals. Regarding to OP's question, yes you can solo mine with it. You can make all the adjustments you want.

So you want to rent a rig and want to experience solo mining eh? My suggestion is that don't solo mine bitcoins directly, instead, find an altcoin that has a low difficulty and has the potential to grow in price (or can even return your investment plus profit). In this way, you'll find it easier to make a profit rather than waiting to find a block of bitcoin. To find the profitability of an altcoin per GH/s or MH/s, >> http://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency

Did you just define those two terms yourself? Betarigs literally says "Cloud mining" in its header. Rental mining to me would be physically renting a miner, plug it in your basement and return it after a while.

Techincally you can try solo mining with rented rig but practically it would be waste of time, money and resources. Difficulty is way too high to solo mine, unless you buy 50-100 THS mining power.

I have used them many times in the past to mine altcoins and have never had any issues, if there is downtime they compensate you for the difference. I think solo mining Bitcoin will be quite expensive unless you are very lucky.
