It is not that awesome, but logical.

Thousands of new interests were drawn to Bitcoin by articles, and the very steep price increase, so everyone wants to get in. Who gets in, realizes that waitaminutedude, here is something that might not be as premined as BTC, and the difficulty is not that ramped up, let's give it a try with my 1-10 gpu's, instead of Bitcoin.

Hence the network grows, imagine what'll happen if the few terahashes start to mine ltc instead of BTC (which partially started because of it's price increase and the good conversion/electricity rate compared to BTC). The pros already have their batchfile present on the desktop for LTC <--> BTC with everything setup, i am afraid, so...no biggie

Good days will come tho those, who mine Smiley

or.. "woah dude.. I can make $10/day with btc... or $25 a day with LTC... "

easy answer there.

It's silly high right now.  Huh

When the subject of buying BTC with Paypal comes up, I often remember this:

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

that is downright impressive, considering it is almost all cpu/gpu (unless someone developed a FPGA and is keeping it a secret for themselves)

300 wow I hope it stabilizes around there, this climb is insane. LTC is up a ton but the price cant sustain the skyrocketing difficulty forever.

I don't think so.  I think it'll keep right on climbing as more GPU farmers get pushed out of sha256 land by ASICs.

After Avalon batch 2 has all shipped, I imagine Litecoin difficulty will be north of 1000.

I think there is a fairly direct relation with difficulty and value. The more mature the currency becomes the more perceived value it has. As people start mining less and less coins per day they will start feeling more comfortable giving litelcoins a more accurate value. Which i believe is more around 8-12 ltc per btc

i think 8 to 12 dollars is more accurate than $20 like u suggested

Current difficulty: 364

Sigh.. it seems this last wave of Bitcoin mania brought a lot of new GPU miners to Litecoin.

It petty much killed profitability of it... hope you guys weren't planning on breaking even anytime soon.

It's good for the strength of the network, but sucks for miners looking to pay off or buy new equipment.

Price will be at $5-10 in a month if this keeps up, I would keep your chin up.  There's still about 30-40 GH/s of miners left to migrate to Litecoin from bitcoin.

If anything, now is a good time to buy.
