Seems like a great idea..

I fully support this idea... but it can be kind of spammed so idk about it... like someone like vod would be getting mentioned every minute

I just got notified I was mentioned....
How do you monitor where your name is mentioned in postings here?

My post was a joke.  There is currently no way.  The OP is asking for such a way to be implemented.

I just got notified that I was mentioned here Tongue (joking), most new forums have this implemented and need to be implemented here too.

Okay yeah I knew he was looking for a way, didn't realize you were kidding.  Tongue

But I'd be supportive of something like this too, if you could mention them by saying @username. I've seen it implemented on other sites and it's definitely useful to bring a user's attention to a thread.

I also suggest when me write @username after posting this to be a hyperlink like this @username which links to the user profile.

I support your idea, a 'tag' function could be really useful (and if the user don't want to receive a notify when he is tagged he can obviously disable it).

Well, I could actually program a script to check the patrol page and send an email to you if your name is mentioned.

Patrol only covers newbies.

I dont care much about it as long as I dont have to use it. E.g. if it can be disabled or has a seperate queue. I guess it can be very annoying for certain people.

Im not really here, its just your imagination.

If this feature will be implemented(which i wish) then it can be disabled for people that doesn't like it.
Or it can be by rank, like you can disable ads when you reach Hero.
Since most of the forums have this feature i think bitcointalk should have it too.

Along with mentions, there should be a general notification system that includes something along the lines of "user X quoted your post". This last one would be more useful for me, personally... And having a general notifications panel would allow many types of notifications/interactions like these.

I realize that this might not be implemented at all, and if it's going to be implemented, it will be on the new forum only Smiley So we're going to have to wait a long time to have these things natively on the forum.

Also, tapatalk compatibility would be amazing... No need for a separate app, it probably requires more work and it's much more handy to have tapatalk support

Well thumbs up for your idea too Smiley A notification panel is great.
And there putting some tabs for "Username mentioned" "Post quoted" "New reply in your thread" etc..
Most of the forums nowadays have integrated Tapatalk so here should be too(also work with notifications too).

A notification tab would be awesome!

"your post just got quoted!"
"A new reply on your thread!"

And it would be awesome if the PM page would be more... Efficient, faster and easier. (i.e. XenForo's)

Personally, the PM page is already great. I set it to keeping the most recent PMs first so that I don't have to scroll all the way down. IMHO that fixes the only problem I had and so now it's perfectly fine.

What improvements did you have in mind?

I support his idea, it would be nice to see this implemented. Using tags like @username would be a nice add-on to the original idea, and could be the
system on how users could be identified.

cheers

Doesn't it look sleek, simple and fast... Well design sure looks like it, at least for me.

Yes it does look nice. One question tho; how would further participants who reply "mention" further members ? (i think that using @username to be both hyperlink
and add those members to the topic)

cheers

I would support this idea. There are a few forum softwares/plugins for forums that allow user mentioning if you do @Athertle. This would be a great implementation.
would see an alert when someone insert my quote so i can answer him instead of verifying each post, so being mentioned is a great idea

the forum needs a little modifications tho, for example adding like button...
another thing i hope they create an android app (ios for the apple's lovers  Tongue)
There's really no need for an android app. Just use the Internet browser installed and go to bitcointalk.org, same as you do on the computer.

There's already an android app for bitcointalk. I use it regularly.

As far as i know this design and this system plaform is from Xenforo.
Xenforo is a forum software build in PHP, and has great features including this Liking, that design of PMs, mentions etc...

I think it is out of date isn't it? Have check a long time before and i didn't liked it.
